The result of this union was two sons, Earl & Willie.

He was converted during the winter of 1885 in Wells, O., Indiana under the pastoral labors of Rev. Jacob McClim and in 1886 he united with the United Brethern church of Zion, Wells, Co, Indiana, and has remained a faithful servant of the Master from the time of his conversion. On the last Sabbath in a conversation with myself (his class leader) He said he was just waiting the Master's will. He spoke frequently of his future home, the home of the soul, during his last sickness.

The deceased leaves a wife, two sons, a father, mother, two brothers and two sisters to mourn their loss. Farewell, John, thou hast left us and the loss we deeply feel - the strife through which you struggled is ended - We trust in your eternal gain.

He graduated in the last of "Mid- Year" graduation of the World War 2 Baby boomers. Graduated January 1958 and was 10th in his class scholastically. Mike excelled in Swimming, Cross Country and Track, winning many awards and metals.

In High School he met his beautiful wife Suzanne and their friendship and love was apparent from the very start. They successfully raised six children.

Their first home was a mobile home located in a park near MSU on Grand River Ave.

Their second home was at 1200 Poxson St in Lansing. They moved to their address at 2251 Paris SE Grand Rapids, MI during march of 1968.

Attended Michigan State University from 1958 to 1960 and completed two years.

Mike and Sue were both Baptized at St. John's Student Center at Michigan State University on 12/24/1962 7PM by Father McDivitt. Vera Imthun (Sue's Aunt) was her Sponsor and Gilbert Reamer (Dept manager at Federal's Dept Store) was Mike's Sponsor. Mike was confirmed in his faith at St Thomas Aquinas Parish in East Lansing, MI at 3PM 3/17/63.

He was employed in Retail for 17 years. Eight years at Federal's Dept Store in Frandor Center in Lansing Michigan (Sorting Goods Mgr and Asst. Stor Mgr) and nine years at Sears Roebuck at Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids, Michigan (Sporting Goods Mgr and sold Appliances). Mike also worked for nine yearscombined in the Life insurance business for Franklin and Sentry Life Insurance Companies. Most of Mike's employment was in public contact work and in retail management. He also operated his own business, Unique Carpet Care and Furniture Cleaning for 14 years.

Other ventures included many multi-level sales organizations, Sales of Cemetery property and Satellite Dishes.

Mike also worked for four years for A&C Enercom doing Energy Analysis work for the company which was subcontracted to Consumers Power of Michigan.

For many years was active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Church and the Cursillo Movement. Mike Played a twelve string acoustic guitar and was active in church services and retreat weekends as a musician and song leader.

After raising his six children He decided to go back to college to seek his diploma. This was a challenge as he had not been back to college since completing 2 years of Michigan State University in East Lansing Michigan during 1958 to 1960.

Beginning September 1997 after 40 years out of college he enrolled at Davenport Business College seeking a Computer Networking Systems Engineering Degree.

Graduated with Honors, June 6th, 2001

He also worked at The Knowledge Center - Computer TrainingSchool as an instructor.

Theories on the origin of the Denny Name

One theory is that the earliest Dennys were Vikings or North Men who settled along the Normandy Coast of France. French history tells of a Danish Prince named Bernard, who, along with his cousin Rollo, settled in Normandy. Members of this Norman colony or settler of Danes were called the Danish Men or L'Denshmen or in French, L'Denne. Some of these early Denshmen migrated across the Channel and settled in southern England. Because of the unrest in the English countryside, many of the Surrey Dennys migrated to Ireland and Scotland. Many came to America in the late 1600s and early 1700s to escape hunger, unrest and religious persecution. Most of these people ended up in the Western Frontier, which was then Western Pennsylvania.
