In 1910:  This church for many years was the Cathedral of the Diocese; it was founded in 1844, by the Rt. Rev. Frederick Rese, first Bishop of Detroit. The Jesuit Fathers have been in charge of affairs since 1877.

Rev. Thomas J. Livingston, S J., is the present head of parish affairs.

The school has an attendance of over four hundred pupils and is free. The Sisters of Charity from Cincinnati are the instructors.
