LISTED ON THE INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX - BRITISH ISLES
My husband's ancestors immigrated to Canada in the mid-1800s from Devon. While researching the COCKWILL line I performed a search (see link at end) with the following parameters: |
Cockwell, British Isles, Exact spelling: Off |
The results listed almost 600 individuals - with a variety of spellings. Similar spellings tended to occur in the same places. The earliest date is 1544. The pages are divided by county, then within each page by place and sorted according to year. A couple of the files are fairly large and may take a while to load. I did not change spellings, or names of places (if the location was identified as Of... then Of is included in the place name). The surname of the father is not included - it is the same as the surname of the child. If the father's name is not listed and the mother's name is - then the parents were probably not married. There are other variants included in the information - only the most frequently occurring are listed below. Use the <BACK> button on your browser to return to this page. |
