QUIGLEY

Could be QUIGLEY, QUIGLY, QUINLY, OR QUINGLEY.

Mary Quigley first appears on the 1861 Bromley Township, Renfrew County, Ontario Canada census. She is listed as being 22 years old, born in Ireland, married to Terence Cambly, and the mother of two-year-old Terence. Other occupants of the home are Ellen Whalen, age 15; plus Johanna (age 8), and Thomas (age 2), Bresnaham. Johanna and Thomas could have been the children of Thomas BRESNAHAM and Ann CAMLEY or of Joseph Bresnahan and Francis Shaw (as has been suggested in "The Founding Families of Bromley Township"). The two were either visiting or living with the Camley family. Whether Ellen was a resident or visiting is unclear because the record indicates that only one family resides in the house. If that is so then the information suggests that Ellen was a relative. Considering that Mary's mother was a Whalen, it is possible.

After Mary was widowed in 1875, she remarried Peter Robichon on 12 February 1878, at Sheen, Pontiac County, Quebec. The couple appears on the 1881 census. All eight of Mary's children from her first marriage reside with them; plus Mary and Peter have two children of their own: "Aleck" and "Archie". According to the marriage registration of Peter and Mary, her parents are Owen Quigly and Mary Whelan.

Mary passed away on the 23rd of December 1886. Her cause of death is listed as "Tumour in Stomach - 2 years." By 1891 Peter has apparently remarried and is the father of two young children with his new wife, Lily.

Mary may have had siblings named Michael (b: abt 1843), and Penelope (b: abt 1846). Further information on this family is lacking.
