EDWARD BARRETT
came to
AUSTRALIA in 1858

EDWARD BARRETT was born 1851 in Canada.

His parents Rosabella and William Barrett and their 3 children
Edward (1851-1949), Fredk William (1856-1939), and Emily (1857-1942)
left New York on December 7, 1857 on board the ship "Reinhard" bound
for Australia.

1884 Edward is listed as living in Bath Street, St Kilda as a baker.

Edward listed his age as 32 when he married
on April 21st, 1886 to a dressmaker from Prahran,
Isabel Elinor DWELLY (23) at Moor Street, Fitzroy.
Isabel was born c.1863 (possibly on the voyage to Australia),
to Samuel Dwelly (a Gentleman) and Elizabeth Alfred.
It seems he should have been 37, as this is the age indicated
on all other certificates and shipping records.

Their Wedding Certificate

By 1886 Edward and Isabel were living in Cheltenham.
Their son William was born in 1887 at Prahran.
He died aged 3 months in 1887 at South Melbourne).
A year later Rosabella May was born at South Melbourne (1888)
followed by Lilly Kathleen (born 1891), when the family were again
living in St. Kilda.

Edward died in Beechworth, Victoria in 1949 at the age of 98 years.
He and his sister Emily were very close, perhaps because they were born 'overseas'.
