AUSTRALIA in 1858

EMILY BARRETT , the fifth child of William Barrett and Rosabella Cleal, was born in 1857, in Brooklyn, New York, America
Unfortunately 6 years of records in New York are missing
and Emily was born during those missing years.

Rosabella and William Barrett and their 3 children Edward(1851-1949), Fredk William(1856-1939), and Emily(1857-1942) left New York on December 7, 1857 on board the ship "Reinhard" bound for Australia. Click here to see a larger image of E W Foreman's painting of New York c.1848.

Emily was a new born babe in 1857 when she left America for Australia. Emily spent her early life moving around Victoria with her parents before they eventually settled in Seymour.
