Their children: Elizabeth (1812), Anne (1814), Mary (1816), Susannah (1819), Henry (1820), William (1823), Sally (1824, Celia, John (1828) and Jane (1830)

We believe Henry (1795)'s daughter Susannah (born 1819 nee Beaglehole) and her husband Josiah MILSTEAD
were the first Beaglehole family to leave Cornwall for a "new life, down-under".
They left England on board the "BLENHEIM" bound for New Zealand, arriving November 17th 1842

Josiah MILSTEAD receives several mentions in the Surgeon's journal of the voyage.
Thursday July 21st 1842: One fresh case of sickness - Millstead.
Monday July 25th 1842: the Surgeon threatened him with a pail of salt water if he did not get out of bed.
Thursday October 6th 1842: Josiah Millstead was accused of stealing a spoon from Mrs.Vernon
        which was found in his possession. His boxes were searched and a cotton handkerchief was found
        in his possession belonging to William Coleman, which was restored to him.
Monday October 10th 1842: About 11pm Josiah Millstead was beating his wife who cried out.
        I went down and confined him in the Hospital for the night
        and this morning on inquiring into the affair confined him to the hospital for a week,
        and his wife to be at liberty but to have all her rations stopped, except bread and water
        with the approbation [approval ?] of the Captain.
Sunday October 16th 1842: Josiah Millstead liberated and allowed his rations.

Josiah and Susanna Millstead arrived in New Zealand on the "BLENHEIM" on November 17th, 1842.
Susannah's uncle, Edmond GEORGE, his wife and children, Cecelia, William Henry, Elizabeth and Edmund,
from Helston Cornwall were also on the "BLENHEIM" 1842.

Josiah and Susanna Millstead's first child, Susanna was born in New Zealand in 1843,
as were twins John Henry and Mary Elizabeth born on August 29 1846 in Auckland.
John Henry Millstead died on September 9 1929 at Forbes NSW.

Mr and Mrs Josiah MILSTEAD and their children came to Australia on the "TERROR" from Auckland Bay, NZ.
and arrived Port Jackson, NSW on Nov 6 1846.
They then joined the "EMMA" in Sydney for Adelaide, arriving there in November 1846

Their next child, Sarah Ann was born in 1850 in South Australia (location unknown)
Their second set of twins, Jane and Josiah, was born on 16 April 1852 in South Australia in the Burra district.

In all, Josiah and Susannah had 12 children:
Susanna (1843), John Henry and Mary Elizabeth (twins born 1846), Sarah Ann (1849), Jane and Josiah (twins born 1852),
William Edw. (1856), Frances Georg/ina (1859), Richard (1863), Edmund Thomas (1866),
They lived at different times in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
