Addison Dillow of Bland County, Virginia

Addison Dillow

Addison Dillow was born circa 1814 in Wythe County, Virginia the son of Abram and Elizabeth Steele Dillow. He married Luvica (her maiden name is unknown at this time) circa 1838 (probably Wythe County) in Virginia. Luvica was born circa 1820 in Virginia. Addison served in the Virginia Militia during the Civil War in Stowers Company, Local Defense Troops for Bland County(Confederate). He worked as a farmer and laborer. Addison and Luvica lived most of their lives in Seddon Township, Bland County, Virginia. Addison appeared on the 1860 Wythe County census and the 1870 & 1880 Bland County census. He and Luvica raised nine known children: James Allen born May 1840, married Frances E. Leady; Samuel born September 4, 1842; Sarilda born about 1846; Jackson Cecil born March 1848; William Addison born Feburary 21, 1852, married Nancy E. Waddell; Emily born October 1855; Lutheria born about 1857, married William J. Blankenship; Martha J. born July 1862; and Lafayette born March 1864, married Macie Burress. These children settled in Bland County, VA; Tazewell County, VA; Wythe County, VA; and Mercer County, WVa. Below are the only known existing photos of Addison's children:

Emily

Emily Dillow was born October 1855 in Wythe County, Virginia. She is pictured here with son John Ambrose Dillow. John was born June 26, 1884 in Bland County, Virginia and died December 28, 1969 in Pulaski County, Virginia. It is unknown at this time when Emily Dillow died or where she was buried. She had two children: John and Noah Dow Dillow.

Lutheria

Lutheria Dillow was born circa 1857 in Wythe County, Virginia. She married William Jackson Blankenship circa 1879 in Bland County, Virginia. It is unknown at this time when Lutheria Dillow Blankenship died. She had three children. Lutheria was buried in Dillow-Bogle Cemetery, Bland County, Virginia.
