I just discovered that Roberta McKenzie has an e-mail address. If it hadn't been for Roberta, this book would have never been published over 20 years ago.
Many thanks to Dianne Blankenstein for having chapter one of my book in her computer files. She sent many other files, much of which was not in my book. Links to those files have been added to chapter 1 and chapter 2, above.
Yancey Watkins has snail mailed me information he received from Frank B. Russell in December 1975 that convinces me that George and Elizabeth Barber had a daughter named Sarah and that she married Reese Watkins. Included in all of this is the proof that Reese Watkins had a daughter named Sarah, that married Levi Campbell. I have added a link in chapter 1 to this info.
Thanks to Lillie Ruby for the Cass County Texas cemetery records on Barber. I have added a link to that in chapter 2. Eventually I will get all of this information in some kind of order.
I have recently been sent a great deal of new information on the Berryhill family which substantially updates chapters 17 and 19. Now I just need to prove it. (grin)
Thanks to Suzan Bird and Wynelle Beavers for sending in information on their family lines, which helped me update chapter 11.
Thanks to Mary Ann (Barber) Hesselgesser and Betty Sue (Cloud) White for sending the information on their families and the descendants of Hardy Jay Barber, which updates chapter 14.
It was Dale Morgan that convinced me that my ancestor, Allen Barber, was the son of James Barber and Penelope Barber. It was the estate records of James Barber which showed Allen Barber's share as an heir being retained by the estate that did it.
Dale and Stephen Barber are descended from James and Penelope Barber through Gray Barber. Take a look at Stephen's web page on James and Penelope Barber. Maybe Dale will have his web page up before long.
John Barber and wife Mary of Anson County, North Carolina - I just received this from Dan Sullivan, a descendant of John and Mary Barber. It is my theory that George, Plyer, John, and Sarah that married Reese Watkins were brothers and sister, and the children of George and Elizabeth Barber of Augusta County, Virginia. Just a theory. Here is another file from Dan, with a better description of the land, and a map.
I just came across this web site for John and William Barber, of Anson County, NC which which shoots part of my theory down. It says that the wife of John Barber was Mary Allen and that their son James, born 1760, was living in Anson County, North Carolina in 1820. Obviously, this is not the same James that had been in Clarke County, Georgia since 1803 or earlier. Back to the drawing board.
