MARKHAM FAMILY REUNION: Descendants of John Bunyon Markham and his wife Sarah Elizabeth Upshaw, who were married 3 Sep. 1843, Noxubee Co. Miss, later lived in Bienville Parish, La. After John's death, Sarah and her children, Permelia Ann (md. Adams, then a Barrington), Emily, Tabitha, James Monroe, and John Bunyon, moved to Holland, Bell Co. Tx in 1867. Any descendants of Sarah's parents, John Upshaw-Tabitha Lawless, are welcome. Also we would like to meet any descendants of James C. Markham, Carroll Markham and Nimrod Markham, believed to be brothers of John. The latter two had descendants settle in Limestone Co. Texas. June 17th, 2000, Landa Park, Site 7A, New Braunfels, Texas. We have some new cousins who will be coming from Bienville Parish, Louisiana and Copperas Cove, Texas and we have asked Billie Jean Poland the Bienville, La. historian and author of two books on the Bienville Parish to join us. A Bar-B-Que lunch will be served at Lunch, coffee and doughnuts will be served in the morning, snacks and cold drinks will be furnished in the afternoon. The response has been good to date but we want every one to come. If you have not R.S.V.P'ed, please do in order that we may have an estimate of how many people the caterer will have to serve. Our Reunion Photographer, Frank Nolden, will be in attendance along with our own Auctioneer, Colonel Keith Waters to help you get rid of that object that you have been planning on discarding but just can't bring yourself around to doing it. Col. Waters is willing and ready. Please bring old pictures of your family members to the reunion so that anyone wishing to can get copies of them and for the NewsLetter. The pictures will be collected and taken to Walmart or ?? that has a computer for reproducing pictures. Be sure that your name as well as the individuals name and date taken are on the back of the picture. These will be returned to you before the Reunion is over. We are also asking for anyone who has been doing family research to bring their information and we can share what we have and help others get started. For your comfort since the reunion will be outside, Charles suggests that you bring lawn chairs to sit in. If you have extra chairs please bring them as they will surely be needed. There are several motels in the area, also RV campgrounds. Be sure and make your reservations early as the rooms do fill up in the summer. Plan on a fun time for the family as Landa Park has an olimpic sized swimming pool, golf course, miniture golf & train, jogging trails, toobing in the comal and the schlitterbahn water park. Something for everyone of all ages. Carolyn Lowe e-mail Charles Markham e-mail
