Here's a little bit about me, I am a Civil War buff, and I enjoy visiting battlefields and watching battle reenactments. The above picture was taken on a battlefield at Gettysburg, PA.
I always have been interested in history and ancestry. I feel we each should do all we can to preserve the past for the future generations. Not just the well-known history taught in schools, but the family history that's passed down from family member to family member. It's such history that tells us the character of our ancestors. It makes our ancestor more than a name on a piece of paper, they become individual with personalities that we can relate to.
With this in mind, I decided to host a genealogy awards program in hope of encouraging others to strive for excellence in preserving their family history as well as the family tree. It's the little stories that we can tell that make the characters come alive. I want to recognize the genealogists and historians, who are dedicated to "keeping our ancestors alive in memory".
I will be married twenty-five years this July 2002, my wife Gale and I have no children, but lots of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in which we will pass our recorded family history down to. I hope some of them will choose to carry on where we leave off.... Anthony
