In researching Queens and Cooks in Cleveland County, NC, my parents were directed to a CSA headstone for Meredith Queen located behind the "Caser" restaurant in a cow pasture. They walked through the pasture and up to the top of the hill. The headstone was placed in a grove of trees - the trees have long since died - and the stone had fallen over. They inspected the stone for dates but no other information was on the stone other than "Meredith Queen Co. C. 1st NC Art. CSA". I'm expecting that this stone belongs to Meredith Queen b. abt 1837 d. 1/1/1864 in Richmond, VA from injuries received in Civil War fighting and married to Sarah Mode. This would make him the first son of John Queen and Cynthia Goins and the grandson of Meredith Queen and Jane Newton. Does anyone have confirming information regarding this Meredith Queen?
