Michael Cosgrove
Michael Cosgrove, Father of James
Cosgrove of this city, died Sunday
noon at the home of his son, death
resulting from heart failure. He had
just returned from church and had
seated himself near the stove to take
a nap when he passed peacefully
away.
Michael Cosgrove was born in Ireland
77 years ago last April, coming to this
country when 20 years old, settling in
Iowa, where he was married. He then
came to Minnesota in the employ of
the Northern Pacific road for several
years, returning later to Iowa, where
the family lived till the death of Mrs.
Cosgrove at Ottumwa, Ia, about 15
years ago.
Three sons and one daughter are
left to mourn his death, namely John
at Ottumwa; Thomas at Hiteman, Ia.;
James of this city; and Mrs. A.J. Swartz
of Ottumwa, with whom he has made
his home most of the time since his
wife's death. It is about a year since
he came to live with his son James,
of this city, and he was contemplating
a return to Iowa for the winter.
The remains were sent to Ottumwa
Monday night for burial there,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. James
Cosgrove. Funeral services were held
there today.
