Lois LaDonna Waters Kendrick
24 June, 1930 - 24 February, 2002

     Lois LaDonna Waters Kendrick, 71, of Albia, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 2002, at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial followed in Oak View Cemetery in Albia.
     She was born June 24, 1930, in Albia, to Bertha Fraizer Douglas. She married Jack Kendrick in October of 1988 in North Carolina. He died April 1, 1998. She was a homemaker and had various jobs in the nursing care field. She had also worked at the Burlington Ordinance Plant in Burlington and the Universal Rundal Factory in Ottumwa.
     She is survived by three sons, William Waters of Moorehead City, N.C., Kenneth Waters of Ottumwa and Tim Waters of Albia; one daughter, NanaJo Brandt of Massena, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Louise Murphy and Sharon Tucker, both of Albia, Janice Jones of Des Moines and Diane Hood of Phoenixsville, Penn.; and two brothers, Robert Douglas of Illinois and Richard Douglas of Florida.
     She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband Jack; and one brother, John Douglas.
     Memorials may be made to Monroe County Hospice.
     Winfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


 Amos John "Jack" Kendrick

     01 April 1998. Jack Kendrick died today. He was 77 years old. The service will be held Saturday at Winfield Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Swanson will officiate. He will be buried at Oakview Cemetery in Albia, IA with military rights provided by the American Legion, Howard Cessna Post # 136.

     Jack had a very impressive military career. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 20 July 1940. He was promoted to Master Gunnery Sergeant by 1943. He was discharged on 19 July, 1944. He rejoined the Marines as a 2LT in 1952 and was promoted to CPT by 1958 and retired in 1965. He served in WW II and Korea. He received three Purple Hearts, Five Fidelity Zeal Obedience Medals, a WW II Medal, four Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medals, a United States Marine Corps Occupational Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, a Korean Campaign Medal, two European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, an American Campaign Medal and an American Defense Medal.

     He is survived by his wife Donna, two sons, two daughters, three stepsons, one step daughter, six grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
