Elizabeth "Sally" Stewart


Elizabeth "Sally" Stewart, 78 of Lovilia, died Saturday, Jan 26, 2002, at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Lovilia, Rev. Gordon Vikery officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia.
She was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Albia, to Claude Harold and Lois Forsythe Ewers. She married Paul Stewart on April 24, 1941 in Unionville, Mo. He died may 6, 1983. She was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1941. She was a homemaker and she helped farm with her husband all her life. Later she provided in-home-care for the elderly in Monroe County. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lovilia and enjoyed reading, music and gardening. She was a wonderful mother and loved caring for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by five daughters, Karen Casper and husband Don of Milan, Ill., Margaret Van Langan and husband Dale of Ogden, Claudia Farrell and husband Ron of Oak Grove, Mo., Debby Conner and husband Bill of Lovilia and Bess Powers and husband Dick of West Union; three sons, Steve Stewart and wife Ginny of Bussey, Rev. Charles Stewart and wife Dotty of Bloomfield and David Stewart and wife Kim of Lovilia; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one brother, Keith Ewers of Springfield, Va.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother Phillip Ewers.
Visitation began at 9 a.m., Tueday, at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with the family to be present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Memorials may be made to the Monroe Copunty Hospice or the United Methodist Church of Lovilia.
Winfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
