Brazee

My father was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1920. Charles Brazee and Marguerite Bradford are my paternal grandparents. The Brazee family was of the Catholic faith, and had an Irish background. They were in or around New York State during the 1920's. Charles Brazee was said to have been the youngest of seven brothers.

Origin

The Brazee surname is a patronymic variation of the first name Breas. This first name appears several times in historical accounts of Ancient Ireland and the Hebrides. Breas was a Fomorian sea rover (pirate). Breas was also an Ancient King of Ireland. Under his reign the Fomorians and Danaan were united and ruled Ireland.
