CHARLES DRUCE (BORN 1781)


Charles was a son of William (b.1746) a clothier and Elizabeth (b.1750-55).


Charles was a boot and shoe maker and was, in later years, a brewer by trade. He married Elizabeth Browning (born 1790) on 9 December 1824 at St John's Parish Church in the presence of Samuel Porter.


The 1841 Census records that Charles and Elizabeth lived on Catherine Hill. They had three children, namely, Charles (a cabinet maker, born 1825), Louisa (born 1831), and Elizabeth (born 1833). Elizabeth, wife of Charles died aged 52 and was buried on 13 November 1842.


Charles married again on 31 October 1844. He married Anne Millard, a widow from Keyford (daughter of John Prince, a carpenter), at St John's Parish Church. The marriage, by licence, was conducted by William T.A. Dusanby (Curate) in the presence of William Daniel and Elizabeth Druce. Charles was a brewer by trade at the time of the marriage.
