WILLIAM DRUCE (BORN 1819)


William was baptised at St John's Church on 26 May 1819 the same day as his elder brother John. He was the second son of John (b.1791) and Mary Willcox.


William was a weaver by trade. He married Ann Parsons (daughter of John Parsons, a weaver of Naish's Street, Frome) on 12 March 1842 at Rook Lane Meeting House. The Minister who conducted the marriage was Henry Atley in the presence of Thomas Mould and Charles Druce. The registrar was John Brown.


William and Ann had seven children, namely, Sarah Anne (b.1842), Jane (b.1844), Emma (b.1846), Mary (b.1849), Louisa (b.1857), William (b.1860) and Anne (b.1862). According to the 1851 Census, the family lived in Blunt Street where William was a brush cloth weaver and Ann was a wool picker.
