This Indenture made the Fifteenth day of November in the twentith yere of the Reigne of our soverigne Lord Charl[es by the grace of God, King, ] Defender of the faith etc Betweene John Stichall the yonger of Swindon in the county of Wiltes gent of the one parte And Rob[ert Stratton of] and Elizabeth Lane now wife of Samuell Lane of Swindon aforesaid Baker of the other parte Wittnesseth That the [payment of the sum of ? Pounds] of good and lawfull money of England by the said Roberte Stratton and Elizabeth Lane to the said John Stichall in hand paied before the s[� ? ? John] Stichall doth acknowledge and therof and of the onne p[ar]te and p[ar]cell therof doth clerely acquite exonerate and discharge the said Roberte St[ratton and Elizabeth Lane] and assignes for ever by these p[re]sentes Hath demised graunted and to Ferme letten And by these p[re]sentes doth demise graunte and [to Ferme let to Robert Stratton and Elizabeth] Lane and their Assignes All that his tenement newly erected lyinge in Swindon aforsaid in a streete there called Newporte Streete together with the backsid[e] [?] way south and the lands of Richard Goddard Esquire and the land of the said John Stichall East and West [?] All which premises are now in the occupacion of th[e aforesaid ?] and backside from the feaste of St.Michaell Tharchangell last past before the date hereof unto the said Roberte Stratton duringe his naturall life and [ also the said ?] premises unto the said Mary duringe the terme of her naturall life And after the decease and deceases of the said Roberte Stratton and Mary his now[e wife �.] unto the said Elizabeth Lane and her assignes for by and duringe the whole time and terme of her naturall life Yeeldinge and payenge therf[ore to her heirs & assigns] Assignes three shillings and Fower pence of lawfull English money att two usuall feastes in the yere (that is to say) the feaste of the [Anunciacion of the Blessed Virgin Mary & the feast of St.Michael Tharkangel] by even and equall porcions But if it shall happen that the said yerely Rente of three shillings and fower pence or [lawfull English money by ?] dayes next after any the said feastes or dayes of paiment therof on the which the same should or oughte to have byn paied beinge lawfully as[�] and for the said John Stichall his heires and assignes into the said tenement to enter and distreine and the distresse or distresses there ha[�] untill he the said John Stichall his heires and assignes shalbe fully satisfied and paied the said Rente with the Arrearages if any shall happen to be [owing ??] had or may be founde sufficiente to discharge the said Rente with the Arreare That then and att all times after all and may be lawfull to and for the said I[nterest �..] into everie p[ar]te and p[ar]cell theof to Reenter Reposesse and enjoye and the same to have againe as in his or their first or former [�.] p[re]sent Indenture contained to the contrary Notwithstandinge And the said Roberte Stratton Mary his now wife and the [said Elizabeth Lane �.] him and her selfe and for their and owne of their Assignie and Assignes covenant p[ro]mise and graunte to and with the [said �..] said Roberte Stratton Mary his wife and the said Elizabeth Lane shall and will att his and their owne proper costs and charges [cause ? �] buildings hereafter to be erected uppon the above demised pr[e]misses in and withall needfull and necessarie Repairions and the Monnd[�] of the said terme the same beinge well and sufficiently Repaired susteined, maintenned uphoulden and kepte shall and will leave and yeald upp int[erest �] said John Stichall for himselfe his heirs ex[ec]utors and Assignes doth covenant promise and graunte to and with the said Robart[e Stratton, Mary his wife and Eliz Lane and their] Assignes by these p[re]sentes That he the said John Stichall had att the sealinge hereof good right full power and lawfull Authoritie to [�..] clearly discharged of and from all manner of former bargaines sales giftes granntes jointures dowers leases wills Intailes and [��] it shall and may be lawfull to and for the said Roberte Stratton Mary his now wife and the said Elizabeth Lane and ev[er]ie of them an[..] all the Articles covenantes condicions and Agreementes in these p[re]sentes mencioned which on his and their partes oughte to be [�..] and enjoye the said tenement and backside above demised Timber trees onely excepted without the lett trouble molestacion inter[ferance ....] them and of all other p[er]son or p[er]sons whatsoever clayminge by from or under him or his Ancestors Accordinge to the true int[ent ....] abovenamed to these p[re]sente Indentures Interchaungably have to these p[re]sentes sett their hands and seales the day [ month and year first written.]
