My Dutton Links

I've only just started to research my Dutton ancestors, who lived in Nantwich, Cheshire and Liverpool, Lancashire. They are currently, sadly, just names and dates as no photographs or documents that I am aware of, have survived in my immediate the family. I have however been contacted on 6th March 2009 by Shirley Calland, a descendant of Thomas Brereton Dutton (see below) whose family did have a Dutton family Bible dating to 1772 - unfortunately all my email replies to Shirley Calland have been "bounced" back to me.

My links start with Eliza Dutton (my Great, Great, Grandmother) who was born in Nantwich, Cheshire, c.1828-1829. In 1853, she married her first husband Edward Bowyer at Nantwich Parish Church (see details below).

And later, in 1861, she re-married to my Great Great Grandfather Henry Drew again at the Parish Church of Nantwich in the County of Chester (see detail below)

From her death certificate, I know that Ann Dutton, (above) sadly died of Cancer in the Abdomen, on 1st October 1874 at Pall Mall, in Nantwich. But what was her maiden name ? I visited SOG 25th November 2006, and searched the Bertram Merrell Marriage Index (on CD ROM). This provided a possibility, a marriage in 1826, at Nantwich SS Mary Nicholas, between a Samuel Dutton and Ann Brereton. A possibilty soon confirmed by ordering a copy of the birth certificate of Edwin Dutton (above), and of Thomas Brereton Dutton (certificate below) confirming parents as Samuel Dutton and Ann Brereton. Since which I've had confirmation from Peter Dutton of the date of marriage as 5th Oct 1826, which opens up plenty of scope for further research.
