My McCormick or MacCormack Links

My MacCormack or McCormick links begin with my grandmother Jeannie McCormick, who sadly died before I was born, at Southampton General Hospital, on the 22nd May 1954. She was born in 1893 at 3, Dickinson Terrace, Prestwich, Lancashire, which is where she would have met my grandfather Alfred Heaton, who she married at Prestwich Parish Church in 1915 (More details on my Heaton links are available here)

One golden rule in researching your family history is "never assume." When I started tracing this branch of my family history, taking my starting point from my grandparents marriage certificate, I initially searched, without success, for James MacCormack and family. When the search switched to McCormick, it all began to fall into place. Jeannie McCormick can be seen with her family in the 1901 Census extract below, at the County Asylum, Prestwich, RG13 3779 Folio 127 page 7.
