Rural Exploit.- Last week, four brothers, named Fudge, who were employed in sheep shearing at a farm in Taunton, Somersetshire, cut, in the short space of ten hours, four packs of wool, of 240lbs each. One of the brothers sheared a sheep, of 24lbs a quarter, in five minutes !

On Monday last the annual pink feast took place at the Pheasant Inn, Salisbury. It was attended by the most distinguished florists in the city and neighbourhood, and the flowers, for richness, size, and variety of texture, were never surpassed. The first prize was awarded to Mr.Joseph Chinn, of the Goat Inn : the second to Mr.Burfitt, gardener to William Boucher, esq.; and the third to Mr.Keynes, son of Mr.Keynes, of Winchester-street. The company sat down to an excellent dinner, and the arrangements altogether reflected the highest credit on Mr.and Mrs.Wheatley.

At Hilperton Pink Feast, held at the Lion and Fiddle on Friday last, the prizes were awarded as follows :- First prize to Mr.Parsons, of Westbury Leigh; 2d, to Mr.Job Carpenter, of Trowbridge; and 3d to Mr.Stephen Price, of the Three Tuns Inn, Trowbridge. An excellent dinner was provided for the occasion by Mr.Dawson, of which a number of respectable tradesmen partook. Handsome subscriptions were made for the ensuing year.

Monday night as James Giles, an industrious old man, was returning to his home on Combe-Down, he was stopped in the carriage-road by three fellows, who rushed upon him from behind a clump of firs, and, after beating, robbed him of a 5 and five 1 notes. The villains made their escape over the hedge, across the field. Giles received the money at a public house in Bath, in the evening, of his brother in law, who came nearly 20 miles to pay it to him, and it is supposed the gang must have observed the transaction.

As the Celerity coach was passing, on Tuesday, between Exeter and Honiton, the door accidentally flew open, when a child, who was immediately in contact with it, fell out, and the wheel passing over it killed it on the spot. The parents of the unfortunate child were passengers; their distress, which was most acute, may be more readily conceived than described. The child having been at Plymouth on a visit, their anxiety for its safe return was so great, that, fearing to entrust it to the care of others, they determined on fetching it themselves, and were on their return when the accident happened.
