Old Men's Asylum.
To the Humane and Benevolent

A few persons, who feel sympathetic pity for their fellow creatures, have frequently met together in Dublin, in order to consider of, and adopt the best means to enable them to relieve the Poor and Afflicted Old Men, who by their peculiar situations and bodily infirmities, are no longer able to procure a morsel of bread; and now humbly beg leave to submit to the public, the result of their deliberations and resolutions.
I. It being evident, that no public place of abode, of effectual relief, for the alleviation of the miseries of the above description of men are provided in this Metropolis, they are persuaded that an Asylum for the accommodation of Poor Old Men, of good character, is essentially necessary, and claims the support of the philanthropic public.
II. That with the blessing of God, and liberal assistance of the friends of the suffering poor, as soon as possible, a House shall be erected, answerable to the foregoing purpose.
III. That a Committee be appointed to meet from time to time, for the purpose of carrying these determinations into effect; and that the following persons compose said Committee.

Rev.E.Martin, Pres. York-st.Mr.J.Lowther, 11, Dame-c.
Mr.J.Kerr, 13, Whitefriat-st.A.Boyd, Henry-st.
W.Hall, 51, Pill-lane.R.Powell, 76, Bride-st.
P.French, Peter-place.G.Gallagher, Cork-st.
T.Fanuin, 42, Bishop-st.J.Wright, 20, Essex-st.
T.Taylor, 51, Castle-st.J.Jones, S.George's-st.

The Committee after sundry meetings, and by the aid afforded, have taken ground in an eligible situation, whereon to erect the intended Asylum : the Lease is 998 Years; plans for the buildings have been presented; and these submitted for approbation, and what now remains wanting to perfect this understanding, is pecuniary aid. The individuals of this Committee have ultimately resolved to continue to solicit the assistance of the well wishers to charitable institutions, and those generous souls, who are never weary in well doing, but feel it more blessed than to receive, to aid them in this arduous work; and they humbly direct the minds of such to the Sacred Rule of Christian practice, which commands that,
"Thou shalt rise up before the Hoary Head, and honour the Face of the Old Man." Lev.xix.32.- and adds, "The Poor shall never cease out of the Land : therefore I command thee, thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy Brother."- Deut.xv.II.
The Right Hon.David Latouche, and Co. have kindly become Treasurers; at whose Bank, and the other Banks of this City, as well as by the persons composing the Committee, benefactions are received.
