Saturday April 20, 1771

Marlborough, April 20.

On Monday arrived at his seat at Tottenham, in this neighbourhood, the Right Hon. Lord Bruce; from whence he will set out in a few days for the German Spa.

The Rev. William Rich Stock, M.A. formerly of Pembroke College, Oxford, Chaplain to the Right Hon. Lord Clanbrafil [?], is preferred to the vicarage of Luddington, in the county of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, together with the vicarage of Chiselden, otherwise Chisulden, in the same county and diocese.

Monday last was committed to our Bridewell, by F.Askew, Esq. for the space of one month to hard labour, Isaac Jones of Bishopstone, in this neighbourhood, for cutting and destroying a live crab-tree hedge at Bishopston aforesaid, the property of Stephen Fox, Esq.
Wednesday was committed to our Bridewell, by W.Hardyman, Esq. Edward Webb, of the parish of Brinkworth, labourer, for assaulting and beating John Pinnell, and Mary his wife, at Brinkworth aforesaid.
