Kensington, June 12.

YESTERDAY being the Anniversary of His Majesty's Succession to the Crown, there was a very numerous and splendid Appearance at Court of the Nobility, Foreign Ministers, and other Persons of Distinction, to compliment His Majesty on that happy Occasion. The Guns in St. James's Park, and at the Tower, were fired, and in the Evening there were Bonfires, Illuminations, and all other publick Demonstrations of Joy throughout London and Westminster.

Whitehall, June 12.

The King has been pleased to constitute and appoint Edward Trelawny, Esq; Governor of his Majesty's Island of Jamaica in America, to be Colonel of a Regiment of Foot to be forthwith raised for his Majesty's Service.

Admiralty-Office, June 12.

His Majesty's Consul General at Lisbon has received a Letter, dated the 14th of February 1743, from Capt. David Cheap, late Commander of his Majesty's Ship the Wager, cast a way in the South-Sea in May 1741, advising of his being in good Health at Santiago in Chili, together with Lieutenant Thomas Hamilton, of Col. Lowther's Regiment of Marines, and two Midshipmen, one of whom is Mr. Biron, Brother to Lord Biron; and that they met with very honourable Treatment from the President of Chili.

Ostend, June 14, N.S. By a Deserter just now come into Town, we learn, that the French had not yet broken Ground before Ypres. Letters from Paris mention, that Admiral Mathews has destroyed Eleven Xebeques in Gremont, three Leagues from Marseilles; the Troops which were on board got ashore.

Excise Office, London, June 8, 1744.

Whereas William Hird, Officer of Excise at St.Mary Cray in the County of Kent, was on the 22d Day of May last, when upon Duty and on Foot, followed a Person, known to be a Smugler, who about the Middle of Chislehurst Common, knocked him down with his Whip seven or eight Times, and repeated his Blows until the Whip was broke to Pieces, of which Blows the said Officer now lies dangerously ill : The Commissioners of Excise do hereby give Notice, that if any Person or Persons will make Discovery of the Person who was guilty of the said Assault and barbarous Usage, so as he may be brought to Justice, such Person or Persons shall, upon, his Conviction receive the Reward of One Hundred. Pounds; to he paid at their Office in the Old Jewry. The said Person is about five Feet nine or ten Inches high, of a fair Complexion, thin bodied, and about Five or Six and Twenty Years of Age.

Navy-Office, May 31, 1744.

These are to give Notice, that on Wednesday the 20th of June next, at Ten of the Clock in the Morning, this Board will he ready to treat with such Persons as shall be willing to serve his Majesty's several Yards with Red and Green Kersey, upon a standing Contract, that they may attend with their Proposals at that Time.

Navy Office, June 8, 1744.

This is to give Notice. That the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of his Majesty's Treasury, have been pleased to appoint Money to pay all the Arrears due to the Pensioners belonging to the Chest at Chatham, to Lady-Day, 1744. and that the said Pay will begin on Tuesday the 14th of August, 1744. at the Chest-Room in his Majesty's Dock Yard at Chatham.




This is to give Notice to all Clothiers and others concerned in the Woollen Manufactures, that a considerable Fund is established, purposely for setting on Foot a Manufacture of some Sorts of Cloth wanted for Exportation to Turkey, and not hitherto made in Great Britain. Any Person or Persons who are inclined to engage in this Undertaking, may depend upon all possible Encouragement, if they will apply to Mr. John Edwards, Secretary to the Levant Company, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, between the Hours of Twelve and Two, at the Sword Blade Coffee-house in Birchin-lane, London; where proper Patterns may be seen.

To be RUN for,
On Worthy Downs, on Tuesday the 26th Day of June instant,

ONE Hundred Guineas in Specie, given by his Majesty, by any Horse, Mare, or Gelding, being no more than six Years old the Grass before, as must be certified under the Hands of the Breeders, carrying 12 Stone, Saddle and Bridle included, the best of three Heats; and if any Difference arise relating to their Ages, Entering, or Running, the same to be determined by his Grace the Duke of Bolton, or whom he shall appoint, according to such his Majesty's Rules and Orders, as will be produced at the Place of Entrance and Running; the Horses, &c. to be entered the Day before Running, at the Starting Post, between the Hours of Three and Seven in the Afternoon.
On Wednesday the 27th, will be run for on the same Course, Fifty Pounds in Specie, by any Horse, Mare, or Gelding, that never won above the Value of Fifty Pounds in Plate or Money, at any one Time; Horses, &c. more than Six Years old the Grass before, to carry 12 Stone, those but six Years old the Grass before, to carry 11 Stone, and those but five Years old the Grass before, to carry 10 Stone, Bridle and Saddle included, the best of three Heats; to be entred the Day Seven-night before Running at the Chequer Inn in Winchester : To pay Three Guineas Entrance, or five at the Post; and if any Difference arise, to be determined by William Powlet, and Geo. Bridges, Esqrs. or whom they shall appoint. Certificates of the six and five Years old Horses, &c. must be produced at the Time of Entrance, under the Hands of the Breeders.
On Friday the 29th, will be run for on the same Course, Fifty Pounds in Specie, by Hunters, carrying 12 Stone, that never started for Match or Plate, but have been actually used as Hunters last Season; not such as were only hunted a few Times on Purpose to be called so, nor such as have been in Sweats with an Intention to run until Lady-Day last ; the Master of every Hunter shall be obliged to make an Affidavit, before some Justice of Peace, to certify that his Hunter is qualified in every Respect, according to the aforesaid Particulars; which Affidavit shall be produced at the Time of Entring, and to be entred the Day Seven-night before Running, at the Chequer Inn in Winchester, paying for Entrance Three Guineas; but if enter'd afterwards, to pay Five Guineas at the Post if a Non-Subscriber, but if a Subscriber, to pay Two Guineas Entrance, or Four Guineas at the Post; and if any Difference arise, to be determined by the Majority of the Subscribers there present: The Entrance-Money for the two last Plates to go to the second best Horse, &c. distanced or not distanced, and no less than three Horses, &c. to start for either of those Plates; and no Horse, &c. to enter for either of these Plates, but what shall pay the Clerk of the Course Five Shillings Entrance.
The Subscription Cock Match every Morning during the Races, and the Thursday Morning and Afternoon, and a Ball as usual on Thursday Evening.




Monday the 11th of June, in the Eighteenth Year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the Second 1744, between Samuel Price, Gent. Plaintiff; Thomas Gibbon and Morgan Gibbon, Defendants.
UPON the humble Petition of the Plaintiff this Day preferred unto the Right Hon. the Master of the Rolls, for the Reasons therein, and in the Affidavit therein mentioned, contained, it is ordered, That the said Defendants do appear to the Plaintiff's Bill on or before the first Day of August next.




Pursuant to a Decree of the High Court of Chancery, The Creditors of Robert Freeman, late of the Parish of Much-Holland, in the County of Essex, Yeoman, deceased, are forthwith to come in and prove their Debts before Anthony Allen, Esq, one of the Masters of the said Court, at his House in Breame's Buildings, Chancery-Lane, otherwise they will be excluded the Benefit of the said Decree.




TO be peremptorily sold, pursuant to a Decree of the High Court of Chancery, on Monday the 9th of July next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon, before Francis Eld, Esq; one of the Masters of the said Court, at his Chamber in Symond's Inn in Chancery-Lane, London, The Estate late of Ralph Thickness, Esq; deceased, in Balterley, Buddileigh and Betley, in the County of Stafford ; Part whereof is out upon Lives; The Whole of the present yearly Value of �200. and upwards. Particulars may be had at the said Master's aforesaid Chamber.




Pursuant to an Order of the Right Hon. the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, for the Choice of a new Assignee or Assignees, in a Commission of Bankrupt awarded against William Johnson, late of Red Lyon-street, Goodman's Fields, in the County of Middlesex, Merchant, the Commissioners named in the said Commission, intend to meet on Tuesday the 19th of June instant, at Three in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London; when and where the Creditors, who have proved their Debts, and such of the Creditors, who have not proved their Debts, are to come prepared to do the same, and chuse a new Assignee or Assignees.




TO be sold, to the best Bidder or Bidders, at the Saracen's Head in Ruthin in Denbighshire, on the 11th Day of July next, together or in Parcels, All that Rectory or Impropriation of Lianiwllyn in Merionethshire, together with the Tythes, Glebe Lands, and a Barn thereunto belonging: And also all those Freehold Messuages, Lands, Cottages, Houses and Tenements, with their Appurtenances in the several Parishes of Dolegelley, Llangylynnin, Landanog, Llanfihangel, y Traethe, and Trawsfynnydd, in Merionethshire, of the yearly Value of �350. or thereabouts, heretofore the Estate of William Price, Esq; deceased. Particulars whereof may be had of John Edwards, of Glynn in Denbighshire, Esq; Mr. Thomas Price, of Gwernihswell in the said County, or of Mr. Richard Jones, at his Chambers in Furnival's Inn, London. Note, Such Persons as intend to bid for the above Estates, are desired to be at the Saracen's Head abovesaid, by Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.




THE Creditors, who have proved their Debts under a Commission of Bankrupt awarded against Richard Bridges, of Milk-street, London, Haberdasher and Mercer, are desired to meet the Assignees of the said Bankrupt's Estate and Effects, on Wednesday the 20th Day of June instant, at Five of the Clock in the Afternoon, at Batson's Coffee-house in Cornhill, to assent to or dissent from the said Assignees compounding, submitting to Arbitration, or otherwise agreeing any Matters relating to the said Bankrupt's Estate.




THE Creditors of Robert Holmes, late of Wych-street, in the Parish of St. Clement Danes in the County of Middlesex, Dealer and Chapman, are desired to meet the Assignees of his Estate on Wednesday the 20th of June instant, at Four of the Clock in the Afternoon, at the Guildhall Coffee-house in King-street, London, in order to consent to said Assignees compounding one or more Debts due to the said Bankrupt's Estate, and to empower the Assignees to submit to Arbitration, or otherwise agree several Matters in Difference touching the said Bankrupt's Estate, and on other special Affairs.




Whereas a Commission of Bankrupt is awarded and issued forth against William Taylor, of the City of York, Linnen Draper, and he being declared a Bankrupt, is hereby required to surrender himself to the Commissioners in the said Commission named, or the major Part of them, on the 22d and 29th of this Instant June, and on the 24th of July next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon on each of the said Days, at the House of Mr. William Watson the Younger, being the Sign of the George, in Sheffield, in the County of York aforesaid, and to make a full Discovery and Disclosure of his Estate and Effects; when and where the Creditors are to come prepared to prove their Debts, and at the second sitting to chuse an Assignee or Assignees, and at the last Sitting the said Bankrupt is required to finish his Examination, and the Creditors are to assent to or dissent from the Allowance of his Certificate. All Persons indebted to the said Bankrupt, or that have any of his Effects, are not to pay or deliver the same but to whom the Commissioners shall appoint, but give Notice to Mr. John Redfearne, Attorney, in Sheffield aforesaid.




Whereas a Commission of Bankrupt is awarded and issued forth against John Wyatt and Hasel Wyatt, of Sudbury in the County of Suffolk, Woolfactors and Partners, and they being declared Bankrupts, are hereby required to surrender themselves to the Commissioners in the said Commission named, or the major Part of them, on the 28th of June Instant, and on the 2d and 24th of July, next at Eleven in the Forenoon, on each of the said Days, at the House of Richard Gardiner, called the Cock Inn in Sudbury in the County of Suffolk aforesaid, and make a full Discovery and Disclosure of their Estate and Effects, when and where the Creditors are to come prepared to prove then Debts, and at the second Sitting to chuse Assignees, and at the last Sitting the said Bankrupts are required to finish their Examination, and the Creditors are to assent to or dissent from the Allowance of their Certificate. All Persons indebted to the said Bankrupts, or that have any of their Effects, are not to pay or deliver the same but to whom the Commissioners shall appoint, but give Notice to Mr. John Gent, at Sudbury, aforesaid.




Whereas the Commissioners in a Commission of Bankrupt awarded and issued forth against John Lewis, late of Bermondsey-street, Southwark; in the County of Surry, Peruke-maker and Victualler, met on the 11th of this Instant June, pursuant to Notice in the London Gazette, for chusing Assignees under the said Commission; but no Creditor appearing, the said Commissioners have adjourned the said Choice to Wednesday the 20th of June instant, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London; when and where the Creditors are to come prepared to prove their Debts, and chuse Assignees accordingly.




Pursuant to an Order made by the Right Hon. the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, for enlarging the Time (for Henry Holding, late in or near St. Catherine's in the County of Middlesex, Merchant, a Bankrupt, to make a full Discovery of his Estate and Effects) for 49 Days, to be computed from the 9th of June instant ; This is to give Notice, that the Commissioners in the said Commission named, or the major Part of them, will meet on the 28th of July next, at Three of the Clock, in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London; when and where the said Bankrupt is required to surrender himself, and make a full Disclosure and Discovery of his Estate and Effects, and finish his Examination.




Whereas it was advertized in the London Gazette of the 15th of May last, that the Commissioners in a Commission of Bankrupt awarded against Elizabeth Stilgoe, late of Brackley in the County of Northampton, Widow, Tallow-chandler and Grocer, intended to meet on the 9th of this Instant June, to chuse Assignees of the said Bankrupt's Estate; but at the Desire of the Creditors then present, the said Choice is postponed to the 21st of this Instant June, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London, aforesaid.




THE Commissioners in a Commission of Bankrupt awarded and issued forth against James Crockett and Archibald Campbell, of Shoe-Lane, London, Pawnbrokers, Dealers , and Chapmen, and Partners, intend to meet on the 6th of July next, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London, in order to make a Dividend of the said Bankrupts Estate; when and where the Creditors who have not already proved their Debts, are to come prepared to do the same, or they will be excluded the Benefit of the said Dividend.




THE Commissioners in a Commission of Bankrupt awarded and issued forth against George Barnard, of Newberry in the County of Berks, Druggett-maker, intend to meet on the 5th Day of July next, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, at Guildhall, London, in order to make a Dividend of the said Bankrupt's Estate; when and where the Creditors who have not already proved their Debts, are to come prepared to do the same, or they will be excluded the Benefit of the said Dividend.




Whereas the acting Commissioners in the Commission of Bankrupt awarded against Thomas Dear, of Royston in the County of Cambridge, Linnen-draper and Chapman, have certified to the Right Honourable Philip Lord Hardwicke, Baron of Hardwicke, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, that the said Thomas Dear hath in all Things conformed himself according to the Directions of the several Acts of Parliament made concerning Bankrupts: This is to give Notice, That by Virtue of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of his present Majesty's Reign, his Certificate will be allowed and confirmed as the said Act directs, unless Cause be shewn to the contrary on or before the 3d of July next.




Whereas the acting Commissioners in the Commission of Bankrupt awarded against John Grant the Elder, of Bread-street Hill, London, Soap-maker, have certified to the Right Honourable Philip Lord Hardwicke, Baron of Hardwicke, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, that the said John Grant hath in all Things conformed himself according to the Directions of the several Acts of Parliament made concerning Bankrupts: This is to give Notice, That by Virtue of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of his present Majesty's Reign, his Certificate will be allowed and confirmed as the said Act directs, unless Cause be shewn to the contrary on or before the 3d of July next.




Whereas the acting Commissioners in the Commission of Bankrupt awarded against Roger Moor, of Stone, in the County of Stafford, Ironmonger, have certified to the Right Honourable Philip Lord Hardwicke, Baron of Hardwicke, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, that the said Roger Moor hath in all Things conformed himself according to the Directions of the several Acts of Parliament made concerning Bankrupts: This is to give Notice, That by Virtue of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of his present Majesty's Reign, his Certificate will be allowed and confirmed as the said Act directs, unless Cause be shewn to the contrary on or before the 3d of July next.




Whereas the acting Commissioners in the Commission of Bankrupt awarded against James Davison, late of the Parish of St.Andrew Holborn, in the County of Middlesex, Victualler and Chapman, have certified to the Right Honourable Philip Lord Hardwicke, Baron of Hardwicke, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, that the said James Davison hath in all Things conformed himself according to the Directions of the several Acts of Parliament made concerning Bankrupts: This is to give Notice, That by Virtue of an Act passed in the fifth Year of his present Majesty's Reign, his Certificate will be allowed and confirmed as the said Act directs, unless Cause be shewn to the contrary on or before the 3d of July next.




THE under-mentioned Persons claiming the Benefit of the Act lately passed for Relief of insolvent Debtors, the following Notices have been brought to the Printer of the London Gazette, to be inserted in this Paper, and are herein inserted in Obedience to the said Act.

The following Person being a Fugitive for Debt, and beyond the Seas, on the 1st of January 1742, and, on Wednesday last, as he was going to surrender himself to the Keeper of the Poultry Compter, London,� was arrested just by the said Compter, by one James Crook, a Serjeant at Mace for the said Compter, where he is now detained at the Suit of Edward Osland, hereby gives Notice, that he has surrendered himself to the Keeper of the said Poultry Compter, and intends to take the Benefit of the late Act of Parliament passed in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King George the Second, intituled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at the Guildhall of the City of London, in and for the said City, or at the Adjournment thereof, that shall happen next after Thirty Days from the Publication hereof viz. Abraham Dukes, alias Duque, late of Houndsditch, London, Taylor.
The following Person being a Fugitive for Debt, and beyond the Seas on or before the First of January 1742, and having surrendered himself to the Keeper of Woodstreet Compter, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of the late Act made in the Sixteenth Year of his present Majesty, intituled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for the City of London, or at the Adjournment hereof, which shall happen next after thirty Days, from the Publication hereof, viz. John Jenner, late of the Parish of St. George Hanover Square, in the County of Middlesex, Bricklayer.
The following Person being a Prisoner for Debt in his Majesty's Goal at Stafford, for the County of Stafford, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of the late Act of Parliament made in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King George the Second, intituled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at Stafford in and for the County of Stafford, or at the Adjournment thereof, which shall happen next, after Thirty Days from the Publication hereof, viz. Thomas Perry, late of the Town of Woolverhampton, in the County of Stafford, Cordwainer.
The following Person being a Prisoner for Debt in the Sheriff's Ward at Dorchester, for the County of Dorset, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of the late Act of Parliament made in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King George the Second, intitled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at Stafford in and for the County of Stafford, or at the Adjournment thereof, which shall happen next, after Thirty Days from the Publication hereof, viz. John Goste, late of Halstock in the County of Dorset, Miller.
The following Person being a Prisoner for Debt in the Goal for the Regality or Manor of Hexham in the County of Northumberland, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of the late Act made in the Sixteenth Year of his present Majesty's Reign, intitled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for the said County of Northumberland, or at the Adjournment thereof, which shall happen next after thirty Days from the Publication hereof, viz. John Leadbitter, late of Hexham in the County of Northumberland, Tanner.
The following Person being a Fugitive for Debt, and beyond the Seas, on or before the First of January 1742, and having surrendered himself to the Keeper of his Majesty's Goal the Castle of York, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of an Act of Parliament passed in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King George the Second, intitled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at Bradford, in and for the West Riding of the said County of York, or at the Adjournment thereof, which shall happen next after thirty Days from the Publication hereof, viz. Thomas Healy, late of Car-side, in the Parish of Hatfield, in the County of York, Fellmonger.
The following Person being a Prisoner for Debt in the County Goal of Carnarvon, North Wales, hereby gives Notice, that he intends to take the Benefit of the late Act of Parliament made in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King George the Second, intitled, An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held in and for the said County, or at the Adjournment thereof, which shall happen next after Thirty Days from the Publication hereof, viz. James Watson, late of Castle Hill, in the County of Nithisdale, in the Kingdom of Scotland, since of Carnarvon in the County of Carnarvon, Chapman.
N.B. If any Person in the foregoing List of Prisoners shall find, on the Perusal of this Gazette, that there is any Error, such Error shall, upon Notice, be rectified in the next Gazette Gratis.
