The substance of all Information received in cases of Felony and Misdemeanours of an aggravated nature, against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of the Person charged with Offices who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as possible, of Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horses for the purpose of tracing and recovering them.




INFORMATIONS.
MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING.

Description of WILLIAM BUCKINGHAM, of Eynsham, Oxon, labourer, charged with having on the 21st inst., wounded Thomas Savings, with intent to do him some grievous bodily harm : about 34 yrs of age, about 5 feet 7 ins high, thin features, sandy hair and whiskers. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Witney, Oxon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension - Bow Street, October 25.




FORGERY.

Description of JOSEPH DUFTY, late of Kidderminster, farmer, who is charged with uttering and putting off a forged acceptance of a Bill of Exchange for �44 8s. : he is 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very stout made, full face, fresh complexion, and no whiskers; he was last seen going in the direction of Birmingham, accompanied by his son, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy whiskers, and light hair; they are supposed to be in North or South Wales. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow Street, October 23.




ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON.

Stolen from the person at Chatham, on the 24th instant : a gold open-face Watch, black figures, maker Jackson, Observatory, Bristol, case rather worn.
Also in the ticket office, Chatham Station, a gold hunting Watch, engine-turned on the face, initials 'W.F.G.' in Old English characters on the back, 3/4 plate, jewelled in 10 holes, maker Robert Haye, 5, Thayer-street, Manchester-square. Information to be given to Superintendent Merritt, Police Station, Chatham. - Bow Street, October 27.
Stolen from the person of a Lady, at the Review at Chatham, on the 24th Instant : a gold keyless hunting Watch, maker Bennett, London, No.7917. Information to be given to Superintendent Gifford, Police Office, Maidstone, Kent - Bow Street, October 27.




BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING.

On the night of the 24th instant, a small jobbing watch-maker's shop in the borough of Reading was broken and entered, and entered, and about ten or twelve gold Watches, and from fifty to sixty silver ditto, all of which belonged to persons who had left them to be repaired, the general stock not having been touched : the books containing names and numbers of watches were torn up and burnt. Among the watches stolen are the following :
1 gold chronometer Lever, Morton's patent improved, No. 1071.
1 gold 3/4 - Lever, maker Trendell, Reading, No. 22972.
1 gold detached Lever, makers Tobias and Co. Liverpool, jewelled in thirteen holes, No. 2748.
1 silver Verge, winds up in face, No. 2748.
1 silver Lever, no name, No. 13715.
1 silver Geneva, No. 48494.
1 silver Verge, maker Manning, Dublin, No. 154, 'H.E.D.' on the inside case.
1 silver Verge, maker Thos. Newsom, Tottenham.

During the night of the 27th instant the workshop of Mark Putney, carpenter, Dorking, was broken into, and the under-mentioned Articles stolen therein : a Hand Saw, marked 'W. Hutton'; an iron mouth Smoothing Plane, marked 'H.H.'; a Tenon Saw, marked 'A. Reynolds;' a Plough and Irons, a Stock and Bits, a Trying Plane, a Smoothing Plane, a Hammer, a 1/4 - inch Firmer Chisel, a set of Firmer Chisels, a Mortice Gauge, and Spoke Shave, all marked 'H. Boxall;' a Screw Driver, a quantity of Gimlets, Bradawls, Punches, and various small things, in a large tool Basket, marked 'H. Boxall;' a Sash Filister, a half rip Saw, a Tenon Saw, a Panel Saw, a 12-inch Square, a Rabbet Plane, and two Aprons, all marked 'G. Packham.' On the night of the 25th instant, the dwelling house of Mr. Henry Jay, New Barn Farm, Downside, Cobham, Surrey, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : fifteen tea Spoons, three fiddle pattern, silver; four table Spoons; four salt Spoons, lined with gold; a silver tea Pot, chased with roses, and rose leaves; a silver butter Knife, with ivory handle; a silver mustard Spoon, a pair of electro Nutcrackers, twisted handles; a cruet Stand, with four cruets; a brown cloth Overcoat, velvet collar, a darn in one of the flaps; a new magenta table Cover, with amber silk embroidered; twenty-six yards of blue Poplin, some of it partly made up; nearly the whole of a Ham; five or six bottles of Wine; and five or six pounds of Candles. A man of the following description pledged six tea Spoons at a pawn brokers's, at Kingston, on the morning of the 26th instant : he is about 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, full round face, and fresh complexion; dressed in a velvet coat, worsted cord trousers, with gaiters, and a black deer-stalkers hat; had the appearance of a gamekeeper, and gave the name of JOHN JACKSON, at the pawnbrokers. Information to be given to Inspector Perfect, Weybridge; or to Superintendent Hollington, Chertsey, Surrey - Bow-street, October 30.

Description of a man who absconded from Ashburton, on the 15th instant, charged with Burglary : about 30 years of age, about 5ft 9 inches high, brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache cut short, oval face and downcast look; dressed in short round jacket, either blue or brown, white slop under with worked collar, fustian trousers, Scotch cap, and lace-up boots. He is a discharged soldier, branded on the side, and tattooed about the arms; he stated he was going to Cornwall, and has been traced as far as Plymouth, in company with another man, dressed as a naavy, who has recently come out of prison. They frequent low beer-houses, and call at Police Stations and Unions for relief. Information to be given to Sergeant Newbury, Constabulary, Ashburton, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Paris-street, Exeter - Bow Street, October 27.

Stolen by means of housebreaking, in Tynemouth : an electro-plated Teapot and Egg Stand, four ditto Tea Spoons; a Microscope, in mahogany case; two blue cloth Coats; a pair of black Trousers; a green serge Dress; four Pillowcases, marked 'J.S.E.'; four Sheets, four Table Cloths, all marked 'M. Baynes;' three Sheets, marked 'J.S. Edington;' a damask Table Cloth; a large white quilted Quilt, with a flower in the centre, three window Blinds. Description of a man in custody, charged with stealing the same : JOHN PETTIGREW, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 1/2 inches high, light hair, blue eyes, pale complexion, blue scar on forehead between eyebrows, two scars on left arm, one on right arm, two fingers of left hand contracted, and left leg crooked inwardly. Information to be given to Head Constable Stewart, Tynemouth, Northumberland.- Bow-street, October 25.

Between 2 and 6 p.m on the 23rd instant, the cottage of Robert Harris, Nunsley, Hereford, was broken into, and the following Articles stolen therein : three pairs of Trousers, one moleskin, one plaid, one light cloth, with black stripes up the sides; a dark cloth Coat and Vest; a dark grey cloth Vest; two callico Shirts; two white Slops, nearly new; and two billycock Hats. Supposed by two tramps, they left their own clothes behind. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to Superintendent Blunsdon, Police Station, Ledbury - Bow-street, October 25.

Stolen from a cottage at Ascot, on the 19th instant by means of housebreaking, the following property : two black cloth Coats; a blue Coat; a dark brown Waistcoat; a pair of black cloth Trousers; nine German silver Tea Spoons; a pair of women's new side lace-up Boots; three large dark Overcoats, one nearly new; a pair of doeskin Trousers; a black cloth Coat and Waistcoat; a brown tweed Waistcoat, nearly new; a plaid silk Handkerchief; a purple striped Necktie; two pocket Handkerchiefs; an Odd Fellows Sash; a silver watch Guard; a suit of black cloth Clothes nearly new; a large brown Overcoat, with white Handkerchiefs in pockets; a pair of dark tweed Trousers, nearly new; a �5 Bank Note, �8 in Gold, and 15s in Silver; the property of Wm. Hoptroff and three others. By two men of the following description :
WILLIAM BARB, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark full face, moustache, no whiskers, tuft of hair on chin, prominent upper teeth; dressed in black coat, much worn, and greasy dark trousers fitting tight to legs.
GEORGE BARB, about 17 years of age, 5 feet high, no beard or whiskers, thin, full face, flushed, short brown hair; dressed in drab coat, and brown drab trousers, worn at seat and patched behind.
Both are costermongers, hawk herrings, &c., and were lately living at No.8, Sun-street, Walhamgreen, Fulham; they have with them a dark pony, with broken knees, and a white star on forehead, and a dark cart, lined with red; they were traced in the direction of Egham and Staines. Information to be given to Inspector Mansell, Police Station, Clewer, Berks, who holds a warrant for their apprehension - Bow-street, October 25.

During the night of the 22nd instant, a temporary office at the new buildings, Hardwick-lodge, Empingham, Rutland, was broken open, and the following property stolen therein : a polished mahogany Box, 7 inches by 5 inches, lined with blue velvet, and fastens with a brass snap, containing mathematical Instruments, consisting of a pair of electro-plated Compasses, with leg for pencil and pen; a pair of brass spring Compasses, with ivory top; a pair of new brass Dividers; a Pen, with ivory handle; two mason's Rules, two feet long, folds in four; a man's Jacket, blue and white plaid, single breasted, bone buttons, torn down front near button holes, and on right sleeve, two pockets outside, without flaps, and one inside left breast, has been repaired with new cloth at cuffs : and a youth's grey tweed Jacket, single breasted, brown bone buttons, two pockets outside, and had a pocket outside right breast, which is sewn up : both jackets besmeared with mortar. Information to be given to Sergeant Rowland, Empingham; or to the Chief Constable, Oakham, Rutland - Bow-street, October 25.

Stolen about 10 a.m on the 19th instant, at Haughton, by means of housebreaking : a pair of men's cotton cord Trousers, nearly new, with flaps; a pair of men's light lace-up Boots, good tops, bottoms worn very thin; a large plaid cotton Handkerchief; a large drab Overcoat, double-breasted, buttons tight round waist and chest, and has long tails, such are worn by coachmen; a dark blue rough Overcoat, very little worn, double-breasted, bad lining, torn at top from being hung up, rather short, and has large wide cuffs on the sleeves : and an artificial manure Sack. Supposedly by two tramps or umbrella menders : one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout and pockmarked; the other 5 feet 9 inches high, stout, light complexion, and dressed in dark rough clothes and billycock hat. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Disney, Stafford.- Bow-street, Oct. 23.

Between 6 and 9.30 p.m on the 15th instant, the house of Joseph Woodward, of South Darley, was broken into, and stolen therein : a black-hafted Razor, with two small bits of white bone let in the handle; 3lbs of Bread; 1 1/2lb Bacon; Apples; and three Half-crowns. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Matlock, Bath - Bow-street, October 23.

Between 10 p.m and 7 a.m. on the 15th instant the house of Thomas Turner Tate, in the parish of Rotherfield, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a quart bottle of Port Wine; with four or five pint bottles of Champagne; part of a Leg of Mutton; two small loaves of Bread, &c. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, or at any Police Station in East Sussex - Bow street, Oct 18.




HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING.

Stolen from a field at Madeley, Salop, on or about the 9th instant; six ewe Sheep, marked 'J.P.' on the right side, the property of Mr. W. Page, of Madeley. �2 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Wyley, Madeley, Salop.- Bow-street, October 30.
Found straying at Robertsbridge, Sussex, on the 26th ultimo, and supposed stolen : a bay Horse, aged, about 16 hands high, white fetlock on off hind leg, a little lame, and appears good tempered. Information to be given a the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, to Superintendent Jenner, Battle; or to Police Constable Richardson, Robertsbridge, Sussex - Bow-street, October 30.
Stolen on the 25th instant, from a field in Lymm, a black Mare, 6 years old, 15 hands 1 inch high, and white star in forehead; also a dark brown mare Pony, 4 years old, 13 hands 2 inches high, tail cut, and three small white spots on the back. �10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender. Stolen from a field at Thrupp, in the parish of Stroud, on the night of the 24th instant : a red and white yearling Ox, the property of A.J. Stanton, Esq. Information to be given to Superintendent Hanbidge, Stroud, Gloucestershire.- Bow-street, October 27.
Stolen from a field at Madeley, on the night of the 22d instant : a brown mare Pony, black mane and tail, about 13 hands high, in good condition, the property of Mr. W. Titley. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, Salop; or to Sergeant Wyley, Madeley, Salop - Bow-street, October 27.
Stolen from a field at Rowley Regis, in the county of Stafford, during the night of the 17th instant : a dark brown half-bred Colt, 16 hands high, white star on forehead, the left hind foot is white, and the right hand foot is mingled with grey, has a cropped tail, the property of Mr. Joseph Whitehouse, farmer. �5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders (�3 from the Rowley Regis Association, and �2 from Mr. Josh. Whitehouse). Information to be given to Superintendent Mills, Police Station, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire. - Bow-street, October 22.
Supposed to have been stolen from a field at South Stockton, North Riding of Yorkshire, on the 21st instant : an aged grey Pony, 14 hands high, a little hair off the far side where collar chafes; it was bought at Yarm Fair, on the 20th instant, and came from Thirsk. Information to be given to Superintendent ..mpson, North Riding Constabulary Office, South Stockton-on-Tees - Bow-street, October 25.
Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Handsworth, on the 16th instant : a dark brown nag Horse, 6 years old, about 15 hands high, switch tail, and in good condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Richards, Police Office, Handsworth, or at any Police Office in the county of Stafford - Bow-street, October 23.
Stolen on the night of the 15th instant, from Aspenden : a chestnut cart Mare, aged, about 16 hands high, well bred, fit for a light van or cart, quiet in harness, the off hind leg is white half way up, and the other a little further, star on forehead; a colt recently taken from her. It is supposed she was driven away in a gipsey's cart, by two men : 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high; dressed in cord suits, trousers fitting tight to the legs, black felt round hats, lace up boots, with brass eyelet holes; the cart had the name of 'Abraham Baldock, Abingdon, Berks,' on the side. �10 reward is offered for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Inspector Oliver, Buntingford, Herts.- Bow-street, October 23.
Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Walsall : a black aged wagon Horse, 16 hands high, white star on forehead, off hind fetlocks much swollen. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire - Bow-street, October 20.
Stolen from a field at Kenn, on the night of the 6th inst. the property of Mr. Wm. Avery, a black cart Mare, aged, about 15 1/2 hands high, off hind leg white, white star on forehead, a large white saddle mark on near side of back, tail cut round hocks, had several white marks, having been stitched up about two years ago after foaling, in good condition, show off the hind foot, the others much worn. Some gipsies were in the neighbourhood some time before, and are suspected. Information to be given to Superintendent Jones, Constabulary Office, Long Ashton, near Bristol; or to the Police, Clevedon, Somerset - Bow-street, October 20.

LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT.

Stolen during the night of the 23d instant, from an out-house at Kirby Moorside, the property of Thomas Robinson, chimney sweep, a patent Chimney Sweeping Machine, with whalebone brush, brass head and wheel, and fourteen or fifteen lengths of Cane Rods, the first four lengths a little longer than the remainder; a small hand Brush, the handle is broken and tied with twine; and a large machine soot Cloth. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, and stout built; dressed when last seen in a fustian jacket, moleskin trousers, and black felt hat with very large brim; supposed to be a native of Whitby. He was traced to Kildale, Battersby-in-Cleveland, on the 25th instant. He is supposed to be making his way north, and that he is not a practical sweep. Information to be given to Inspector Milner, North Riding Constabulary, Kirby Moorside, Yorkshire - Bow-street, October 30.
Absconded from the borough of Middlesborough, on the 25th instant, charged with converting to his own use several Guns : T.H. HOLLAND, gunsmith, a native of Birmingham, has been in business on his own account, in different parts of the country as a gunsmith, gasfitter, and bellhanger, from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, and spuints with one eye; generally dressed in a dark mixture shooting coat and vest, small cord trousers, and soft body hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Office, Middlesborough, who holds a warrant for his apprehension - Bow-street, October 30.
Description of GERMAN SHILTON, brewer's agent who is charged with embezzling the sum of �28 8s., the money of his master Thomas Berry, No.105, Digbeth, Birmingham, on the 17th instant : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thick set, sallow complexion, dark hair, mixed with grey, shows his teeth when laughing; dressed in grey trousers, with black stripes down the sides, blue ribbed frock coat, with velvet collar, and high hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Moor-street, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension - Bow-street, October 27.
Stolen from the entrance-hall of a house at Buckhurst Hill, on the 11th instant : a double breechloading Gun, No.12 bore, central fire, with snap action, back action locks, and patent safety triggers, maker Forsyth, on the locks, 'Converted by James Squires, Kingsland,' on the barrels. By a man hawking cheap jewellery and carrying a pedlar's mahogany box : about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, sandy whiskers, and rough moustache; dressed in black frock coat, speckled trousers, black necktie, with a strong Irish or foreign accent; a lad, about 15 years of age, supposed to be his son, was with him; they were traced as far as Epping, carrying the gun, taken to pieces and wrapped in brown paper, and are supposed to have gone to London. �5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the above and recovery of the gun. Absconded on the 19th ultimo, charged with embezzling �30 17s. 5d. : DANIEL SMITH, 29 years of age (looks older), about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark moustache, rather short hair, no whiskers, slouching walk, speaks thick, and has a red face and nose, caused through drink. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E.C. - Bow-street, October 25.
Absconded on the 5th instant, charged with embezzling �24 : THOMAS GEORGE HIVES, 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, beard shaved off, dark eyes, arched eyebrows, full face, sallow complexion, broad shoulders, strong build, and rather corpulent, peculiar voice, and hesitating address; dressed in a double breasted dark frock coat, buttoned tight, dark brown or olive green single-breasted loose overcoat, dark trousers, and black hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E.C. - Bow-street, October 25.
Description of JOHN SAVAGE, who is charged with larceny, and absconded from his bail at Worcester, on the 14th instant : 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, sallow complexion, high cheek bones, and looks on the ground when walking; dressed in a dark grey stable jacket, grey tight fitting trousers, and black hard round top hat; is a groom and coachman, married, has two children, and is a native of Honeybourne, in Gloucestershire. He was last seen in Birmingham. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Phillips, County Police Office, Worcestershire - Bow-street, October 25.
Description of WILLIAM TURNER, alias THOMAS TURNER, charged with stealing on the 22nd instant, �50 from a dwelling-house in Leicester : 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 3/4 inches high, light brown hair, light sandy whiskers, grey eyes, fair complexion, mole on left cheek, blue ring on middle finger of left hand, letter 'D.' on left side, and blue mark on left wrist. He was convicted at Middlesex Sessions, on the 1st November 1869, of larceny, and sentenced to eighteen calendar months hard labour and seven years police supervision. He is supposed to be accompanied by a female about 22 years of age, and about 5 feet 2 inches high. Information to be given to Head Constable Charters, Police-Office, Leicester.- Bow-street, October 22.
Stolen on the 14th instant, from 25, Oxford-street : �10 in Gold; and a pair of elastic-side Boots, imitation buttons. By two men, one 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no beard, and carried a small gold watch, enamelled back; the other about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers, heavy moustache, and dark imperial; both well dressed, and can be identified - Metropolitan Police, E. Division, October 23.
Description of WILLIAM JACKSON, alias SOLDIER BILL, charged with stealing a smock Jacket at Lea, on the 9th instant, since recovered : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather sore eyes, light hair, whiskers shaved off, slovenly gait, turns his feet out and stoops when walking; dressed in dirty brown jacket, drab trousers, black cloth cap, and red neckerchief. He works for farmers, frequents low lodging-houses, and supposed to belong to or near Boston. Information to be given to Superintendent Jarvis, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, who hold a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow-street, October 23.
Absconded from Hastings, on the 9th instant, charged with stealing �50 in Notes (which he exchanged for cash), and a Cheque for �24, the monies of Mr. John Nixon, of the Anchor Inn, George-st., Hastings : WILLIAM WHYMAN, alias RICHARD ELGAR, a baker (formerly apprenticed to a linendraper), a native of Sandwich, Kent, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, no whiskers, brown hair, dark eyes, and of dissipated appearance; dressed in a dark mixture coat and vest, light striped trousers, and low-crowned black hat; he may endeavour to emigrate. �10 reward will be paid on his apprehension and recovery of the money, or in proportion to the amount recovered, and all reasonable expenses will be paid. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Town Hall, Hastings, who holds a warrant for his apprehension - Bow street, October 23.
Absconded from Swindon on the 19th instant, stealing a silver Geneva Watch, with 'E.C.T.' on outside case : a man, about 48 years of age, 6 feet high, dark swarthy complexion, dark bushy hair, moustache, has a ring tattooed on each finger of left hand, also tattooed on each arm : dressed in dark cord trousers and vest, dark brown overcoat with velvet collar or lighter shade, and black billycock hat; is a bricklayer, and has been in the Army. Information to be given to Superintendent North, Wilts Constabulary, Swindon, Wilts - Bow-street, October 23.
Absconded on the 6th instant, charged with embezzling �262, belonging to his late employers Messrs. Lang Brothers, wine merchants, Oswald-st., Glasgow : JOSEPH STRETTON ALEXANDER, a traveller, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 1/2 inches high, brown hair, a very few hairs on cheeks, a few straggling hairs on other parts of face, his face has a bleached shrivelled appearance, straight nose, speaks with an East of Scotland accent, is a native of Montrose, slightly knock-kneed, and has a swinging gait; dresses respectably. Description of THOMAS SNELL, charged that being a bailee of some Oxen, the property of Mr. Edward Gale, of Surrendel, in the parish of Hullavington, on the 25th ultimo, he did fraudulently convert the same to his own use : 28 yrs of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, velveteen jacket, cord trousers, and bowler hat; he has been traced to Bristol; he is accompanied by a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, and stout made; dressed in dark velveteen jacket, and bowler hat. �20 reward will be paid on his apprehension. Absconded from Beverley, on the 5th instant, charged with stealing a number of �5 Notes of the Hull Banking Company, and some of the Bank of England : RICHARD LOWSON the younger, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, fairly proportioned, dark complexion, scar under the left ear; dressed, when he left Hull for Doncaster by railway on the 5th instant, in a black office coat with pockets at the sides, dark striped trousers, and a round hat; he also wore a new gold watch, No.30928, maker J.C. Hesselton, Beverley, with gold dial, black figures, back of case engraved, has second hand, with gold Albert twisted wire pattern chain, and a large coloured gold locket, embossed as beads, attached. Was accompanied by Septimus Newton, about 5 feet 10 inches high, well proportioned, round face, thick lips, brown hair, and well used to travelling. It is believed that they booked at Doncaster for King's Cross, and had with them a brown leather portmanteau, a black leather bag, a leather hat-box, a railway wrapper, and two overcoats (one light). Many of the Hull Banking Company's notes were clean, and dated 6th to 10th March 1871, also from 3rd to 8th of April, 187, those in March numbering from 4001 to 5000, and the second lot in April from 5001 to 6000; the Bank of England Notes all have the Hull Banking Company's private number written in ink on the front of them, and would be numbered C302 or B874, or about those numbers; among them were one note for �100, two for �50 each, and the rest for smaller sums. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the above-named Richard Lowson, junior, shall receive �50 reward, or more if a large proportion of the stolen property be recovered. Absconded from his lodgings at Ripon, on the morning of the 18th instant, stealing and taking with him a black cloth surtout Coat; a drab velvet Waistcoat; a cotton cord Waistcoat; a black and white striped woollen Shirt; and a pair of man's strong Boots, all partly worn, the property of a fellow lodger : he is a labourer, said he belonged to the neighbourhood of Otley, Yorkshire, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, no whiskers, a red mark on left cheek, very soft voice; dressed in a drab coat, torn on one shoulder, dark fustian trousers, dark cap and clogs, with irons on the bottoms. Absconded from Bishops Stortford, on the 14th instant, CHARLES TUGBY, charged with stealing 91 lbs of Lead (since recovered), the property of Bishops Stortford Gas Company : he is about 17 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, and thin pale face; dressed in a black pilot jacket, white buttons, dark cord trousers, and soft white billycock hat. He has a pedlar's certificate, granted in Hertfordshire, and endorsed for Essex, hawker of earthenware, brushes, and lines. He was last seen in Saffron Walden on the 16th, with his brother, who is also a hawker, making their way for Royston Fair. He will probably visit country fairs in the adjoining counties, and is in the habit of staying at low beerhouses or common lodging-houses. Description of JAMES WILLIAMSON, a labourer, who absconded from Aldborough, Norfolk, on the 24th inst., charged with rape on Matilda Ward, aged 9 years : he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, slight beard and moustache, rather lame in right leg, and has a scar in calf of the same from having been broken : dressed in pepper-and-salt coloured coat, with whole back, light coloured trousers, and deerstalker hat. It is supposed he will make his way to the North of England, and has worked in Middlesborough. Information to be given to Inspector Mobbs, Holt, or to Police Constable Rust, Aldborough, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension - Bow-street, October 20.
Description of WILLIAM LEAKE, miner or collier, who absconded from Donnington Wood, Salop, on the 12th instant, charged with rape : 30 years of age, (looks older), 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, lost right eye, has several burn marks on his back, legs, and arms; dressed as a collier. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS.

Whereas a child (girl) 6 years of age, very fair, light blue eyes, flaxen hair, named CAROLINE ELIZABETH SYMONDS, usually called LINA, was taken away from Gloucester on the 18th instant by Anna Symonds, her mother, about 5 feet high, fair, light brown hair, hazel eyes, about 20 years of age, and who is supposed to have been accompanied by another female, and to have travelled by rail from Stonehouse or Paddington, and arrived at the latter station at 5 p.m., and has not since been heard of. And whereas such abduction was on a contempt of Her Majesty's Court for Divorce, and an attachment has issued against the said Anna Symonds. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the recovery of the said child shall receive �25; and whosoever shall give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Anna Symonds, shall receive �10 reward, and whosoever shall give information as shall lead to the discovery of the female who is supposed to have aided and abetted the said Anna Symonds, shall receive �5 reward. Obtained, by a man of the following description, at Weyhill Fair, on the 10th instant, by means of a forged cheque, which was signed 'John Roberts,' one hundred Lambs, afterwards recovered at Southall, Middlesex : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light hair, parted n the middle, small light whiskers, very red face, and has a ring on little finger of right hand; dressed in black coat and vest, light trousers, and high black hat; is supposed to be connected with low horse dealers, who have passed cheques drawn on the Wilts and Dorset Bank, Ringwood Branch. Description of a man charged with obtaining �9 from a firm in the city of Durham, about two months ago, for a cask of oil, representing it to be neatsfoot oil : he said he resided at Darlington, and was in the oil trade, 30 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, round features, no whiskers; dressed in grey cloth suit, snuff coloured overcoat, and black silk hat.
Also, of a woman charged with obtaining a quantity of woman's Wearing Apparel (recovered), on the 13th inst, under pretence of telling fortunes : 35 or 40 years of age, low-set, stout, round features, dark hair, and pockpitted; dressed in grey shawl with blue boarder, and black bonnet.
Also description of a man charged with obtaining a bar of Copper (recovered), under false pretences, on the 13th instant : a whitesmith, 56 years of age, 5 feet 8 1/4 inches high, fresh complexion, grey hair, and lame in the left foot.

Description of a man convicted of felony at Kineton, on the 25th instant, and sentenced to 3 calendar month's hard labour, and who escaped from Kineton Police Station, on the morning of the 26th instant : gave the name of FRANCIS DAY, tailor by trade, 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 1/2 inches high, very dark hair, eyes, and whiskers, slight dark moustache, has a few pimples on chin, rather sallow complexion, and has a sore thumb, from a recent blister; dressed in black russel cord jacket, grey vest, and trousers, with a black stripe down side seam, and elastic side boots. States he knows Worcester, Birmingham, and Coventry. Information to be given to Inspector Hinde, Police Station, Kineton, Warwickshire - Bow street, October 30.
Description of MICHAEL SMITH, alias THOMAS JORDAN, alias FRANK BEAUMONT, alias RICHARD JONES, remanded until the 1st November next, charged with stealing a suit of Clothes, from his lodgings on the 20th instant; he is about 38 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark or sunburnt complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair, whiskers and moustache, inclined to sandy, thin features, and a little round shouldered; dressed in white round duck jacket, old black trousers and vest, and round poll hat, sometimes wears a long black coat, and dark cord trousers; states he is a boat builder, and is strongly suspected of having committed offences elsewhere. JAMES JONES, a convict on licence, No.5426, left his residence at Stoke-on-Trent on the 27th ultimo, without previously notified the same at the Stoke Police Station, where he last reported himself, whereby he has forfeited his licence, and is to be apprehended by any constable at any time previous to the 16th October, 1872, the day on which his sentence expires : he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, and has lost left little toe. Description of man convicted at Kineton, for stealing a silver Watch and Chain; two gold Studs, &c., from a dwelling-house : he gives the name of FRANCIS DAY, states he is a native of Worcester, a tailor, and that he has been working at Birmingham, Worcester, and Coventry, 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 1/2 inches high, very dark hair and eyes, slight moustache, has a few pimples on his chin, dressed in black russell cord jacket, grey vest, and grey trousers, with a black stripe down side seam, he has in his possession a bunch 10 of Keys, and a pocket Handkerchief, bearing the name of E. Description of a tramp who gives his name JOHN MARTIN (supposed fictitious), who was sentenced to 14 day's imprisonment in Oakham House of Correction, Rutland, for vagrancy : he says he is a native of Dublin, Ireland, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy hair, rough sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache, cut short, fresh complexion, rather full face, sore on left side of belly, and varicose veins on right leg; says he has served in the 52nd Foot; dressed in a cloth billycock hat, old red plaid muffler, dark alpaca coat, much worn, old black vest, cord trousers, and light boots. Description of a man in custody at Forfar, on a charge of theft : gave the name of WILLIAM CAIN, states he was a groom, and was born in Jersey, speaks English, with an Irish accent, and is supposed to be a deserter, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 1/2 inches high, round features, fresh complexion, pockpitted, 'D.D.' on left side, tattooed over with a fish, a flag and wheel on right arm, scar on back of left hand, and four capitals on left arm, thought to be either 'J.E.' or 'A.E.', and 'R.P.' or 'R.O.'; joined Mander's Menagerie, at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, about February last, in which establishment he was known as YORKIE. Is addicted to drink, in which state he boasts of having been in many gaols. His photograph can be had. Missing from his home at Elsecar, Yorkshire, since the 31st August last : EDWARD TIERNEY, a schoolboy, 11 1/2 years of age, about 4 feet high, round features and fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, has a burn mark on right shoulder and under right arm; dressed in black cloth jacket, dark tweed trousers, Scotch cap, with rosette and buckle on left side, and side-spring boots with block fronts; all much worn. Description of a licence holder who has failed to report himself, as required by the Penal Servitude Act, 1864 : DAN. JOHN PRICE, No. 249, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on fourth finger of left hand and inside left thigh, from a gun-shot; dressed in a white slop with band, cord trousers, and French cap; he was sentenced to seven years penal servitude at Hereford Sessions on the 16th of October, 1865, and his sentence will expire on the 15th of October, 1873. WILLIAM CONNER, No.5485, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 1/2 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes; was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude at Clerkenwell Sessions for larceny, his sentence will expire 4th December, 1871.
CHARLES PARFITT, No.2946, 68 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead; was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude at Middlesex Sessions for larceny after previous conviction, his sentence will expire 23rd February, 1873.

Description of a man remanded at the Cambridge Borough Police Court, for obtaining money by false pretences, by advertising in various newspapers that he has fowls to dispose of, which will be forwarded to purchasers upon receipt of the amount named, but on the money being sent to him no fowls have been sent in return; he has been residing at Braintree, Ipswich, Bury St.Edmunds, and for the last three weeks at 18, Adam and Eve-row, Cambridge : he gives the name of JOHN BANCUTT, but is known by the names of BARRATT, ARCHER, DAVIS, DALBY, CORBY, and BARNARD, is 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 1/4 inches high, light hair, fair complexion, light grey eyes, oval face, small sandy moustache and whiskers, has a slight impediment in his speech, and his nose appears to have been broken; says he is a shoe rivetter, a native of Daventry, and that be belonged to Northamptonshire Militia until about 2 1/2 years ago; dressed in a black silk hat, brown double-breasted overcoat, with raised seams and imitation sealskin collar, dark mixture undercoat, and grey trousers with narrow black stripe down the legs. THOMAS SCOTT, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 1/2 inches high, blue eyes, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, proportionate figure; dressed in an old brown cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, black billycock hat, and old clogs, all much worn.

Description of a convict licence holder who has failed to report himself, as required by the Penal Servitude Act, 1864 : EDWARD MEDCALF, No.5032, 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, figure (in blue) and cut on left arm, and scar on eyebrow. He was sentenced to seven years penal servitude at the assizes, and his sentence will expire on the 27th February next. He cannot be found at the address given by him, and is to be apprehended at any time prior to the date of expiration of sentence. Absconded from the School Ship 'Cornwall,' lying off Purfleet, Essex, at about 2 a.m. on the 19th instant, two boys : CHARLES TWYMAN, of No.2, Charlton-street, Fitzroy-square, Marylebone, 18 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, red hair cut short, grey eyes, large head, does not speak plainly; and JOSEPH CAGNEY, of No.18, Circus-street, Marylebone, 17 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on right eyebrow, stoops when walking. Stolen between the night of the 14th instant, and early on the next morning, from the lighter 'Garabaldi,' whilst lying in the Kirkintillock Basin, on the Forth of Clyde Canal, in the Burgh of Kirkintillock : a horse Rope, about twenty-two fathoms in length, it is of grass manufacture, with a tarred hempen thread running through one of the strands, and is in good condition. Stolen from two dwelling-houses in Brighton, on the evening of the 22nd instant : a silver Geneva Watch, with flowers and a plain place for initials at back; about �1 6s.; also �34 in gold, in a steel purse; an imitation gold guard Chain; a gold Seal, with white cornelian stone; a cameo Brooch; three pins, one white, one green, one shape of heartsease; two pairs of long gold Ear-rings; a pair of amethyst ditto; a glass Smelling Bottle, silver top; a small Pen knife, pearl handle; three Stones, with crest - Coat of Arms, and the letter 'A' engraved on them. Stolen from the borough of Middlesborough, on the 18th inst., the following property : a blue pilot cloth reefing Jacket, double-breasted, lined with tartan plaid, two pockets outside of laps, and one outside of left breast, a staff pocket inside, two rows of brass buttons, with the Middlesborough Coat of Arms thereon, man's size, and nearly new, the property of the Captain of the Steam Ferry Boat.

Description of Deserters, Stragglers, and Men Discharged from Her Majesty's Sea Service.
Although �3 reward is offered for the apprehension of Deserters at the time, �2 is only payable at the expiration of 3 months, and �1 only at the expiration of 6 months from the date of desertion, and after the expiration of a complete year, no reward will be paid, except under special circumstances.
No reward will be given in those cases if apprehended within the precincts of a port where a regular Police is organized, but all reasonable expenses will be paid.
