The young men came forward with great alacrity, and 350 were sworn in, and received the bounty of two guineas each, to exonerate their parishes from the ballot.- It should be known that, when a ballot takes place, the individuals who are drawn and pay the fine are exempted for two years only by the late Act.

She lived to an advanced age, long retired from the gay circles, devoting her time to acts of real piety and charity; and distributing, amongst a wide extended circle of the poor and necessitous of various degrees, with a secret but most liberal hand, a large portion of her income; and we hear that she has left by her will several handsome legacies to public charities in London and Bath, as well as this city. - So rare and valuable a friend to the poor, she will be long and deservedly lamented.
