A new machine invented extraordinary portable Thrashing Machine, which will fix any way in fifteen minutes, was tried on Monday last, near Romsey. It thrashed four sacks of wheat within the hour, with two horses, cleaner than with the hand. It is supposed that if the corn had yielded well the machine would have done double the work. Great praise is due to the inventor, Mr.J.Bell, millwright, Romsey.

Mr.Langstaff's Concert, at Andover, on Thursday evening, was very numerously attended, notwithstanding the unfavourableness of the weather. Mrs.Harrington was in fine voice, and sang with great sweetness : each of her songs were loudly encored, and repeated with increased effort. Mr.Wyndham, after representing this county in five Parliaments, has announced his intention of retiring from that honourable station. Mr.Long, it is understood, renews the tender of his services. Mr.P.Methuen had resolved on offering himself as a Candidate for the county, apparently without any allusion to or understanding of Mr.Wyndham's retirement, and there can be little doubt of another Candidate being soon declared.

On Tuesday morning the 11th ult.died, at Cheltenham, after several years of bodily sufferings borne with that calm resignation which marks the true christian character, Mrs John Long, wife of John Long, Esq, of Monkton Farleigh, in this county.
