Windsor National Schools - At the annual examination of the children of these schools, which took place yesterday, an unusual number of ladies and gentlemen of Windsor and its neighbourhood were present. Eight boys and six girls, who had been selected by the Trustees as most deserving, received the rewards, arising from the endowment of the late Rev.G.Champagne, viz. : each a bible and a pair of shoes. The examination was conducted by Mr.Robertson, the master of the school, under the superintendence of the Reverends C.Digby, Isaac Gosset, and W.J.Moore, and the company expressed great pleasure in witnessing the proficiency of the children in religious knowledge, &c.

The Newcastle Scholarship has this day been awarded to Mr.Lonsdale, of Eton College, and the Hon.Mr.Lyttleton obtained a medal, he being considered the second best candidate. The examiners were the Rev.H.H.Milman and T.H.Hall, Esq., F.R.S.

Mr. De Ville, the celebrated phrenologist, has signified his intention of lecturing on that interesting science at the Public Rooms, Windsor, soon after the Easter holidays.

The Masters Grossmith, of Reading, (one but seven years old) have notified their intention of appearing in their entire new, novel, and interesting entertainment , in the Easter week, at the Public Rooms, in Windsor, and we doubt not but they will, as usual, meet with great patronage. The periodicals of the day are lavish in the praise of these performers, particularly the youngest, who gave so much satisfaction in Windsor about two years since.

Staines Ball

The ball at Mr.Iveson's, at the Bush and Clarence Hotel, on Tuesday evening last, was attended by upwards of one hundred persons, and the company appeared highly delighted with the evening's amusement.

Cucumber Show at Slough

The annual show of cucumbers was held at Mr.Luff's, the White Hart Inn, Slough, on Tuesday last, and some remarkable fine fruit was there produced. The first prize was awarded to Mr.Weedon; the second to Mr.Dash; the third to Mr.Purdie; the fourth by Mr.[?] rlilton; the fifth to Mr.Chapman, and the sixth being the last, to Mr.Willmot. After the show a party of upwards of thirty partook of an excellent and well cooked dinner, spent the evening together with the greatest hilarity and departed highly gratified with the landlord's liberality. - Since the show we have been informed that although Mr.Dash did not obtain the first prize, - one of his fruit was the finest ever seen.
