Tulip Exhibition

- Messrs. Brown, of Slough, it will be seen , have announced that their show of tulips is now open to public view. We have this week seen the bed of these beautiful flowers, which, to our judgement will, in a few days, when they are more expanded, if possible exceed the elegance of Messr. Brown's former collections.

Phrenology

- On Wednesday last the sixth and concluding lecture on phrenology was given by Dr. Epps, in the Town-hall, to a very crowded and gratified audience. We congratulate the Lecturer and the Mutual Improvement Society on this the first public series of lectures emanating from that society, which have been of the most interesting character, and have attracted each evening an audience that scientific dissertations have not previously had in this town. We hope that the success of these lectures will be made manifest in the continued progress of the society which gave rise to them, and that as many great and good works have resulted from small beginnings, the Mutual Improvement Society will receive that support which its proceedings hitherto show that it merits. Dr. Epps, at the conclusion of his lecture, announced that our respected townsman, Dr. Fergusson, had made a very liberal gift of books to the society, and of a loan of others, for a given period, an example which we should hope to see followed by others.

Supposed Robbery

- On Thursday a man dressed as a blacksmith sold to some persons outside the Stag and Hounds, public-house, Binfield, a green merino cloak for 3s, and two shawls, one for 1s 6d, and the other for 9d. It was shortly discovered that the articles were worth at least 2, and some persons determined on pursuing him and taking him into custody on suspicion of stealing them. They overtook him at Wokingham, and carried him before a magistrate when his account as to his possession of the property not proving satisfactory he was remanded for further examination on Tuesday next. In the mean time exertions will be made to discover the owner of the articles. It is supposed the prisoner came from Staines.
