Stephen Wilmoth was born at Surry in 1835 to Lot Wilmoth and Fanny Potter Wilmoth, farmers, of Mitchell River.  He was a farmer.

He entered service when he was 28 on 1 Apr 1863.  No other information.

He married at Surry in 1860 Mary Lasiter born in 1839 to Isaac and Jane Lasiter, farmers, of Surry now Yadkin County.  Children: James b 1860, Ruffin b 1861, William b 1863, John b 1866, Richard b 1867, Byrd b 1879.

Stephen’s wife, Mary, applied for pension.
