This page is 'graphics-intensive'. Please sit back and enjoy our Morrison Family Album. I've tried to keep the graphics small by using 'thumbnails'. By clicking on the small pictures, you may view the larger version. Feel free to copy to your own files any photo you wish to save. If you have a Morrison photo you would like to share, please send it to me as an attached file to my E-mail address.

My grandmother, Laura Morrison Harley, was surely one of the original creative scrap-bookers. There are four albums which contain wonderful pictures from the turn of the century. She was careful to include names, dates, and the places where each picture was taken. My album contains a few of the choice family photos, as well as an "unknown Morrison". The Morrison girls were the children of Violetta Clara Martin, and Benjamin Abbott Morrison. The marriage produced seven beautiful daughters who were remarkable women (alas, no sons!). There was love and a strong family bond between the sisters, which they, in turn, passed down through their children. I hope you enjoy these vintage photographs as much as I have.

The pictures of Alice May [Martin] Burns and her sons, Fred and Robert, are courtesy of May Bopp.

Please note that they are in the beginning stages, and will be updated as time allows...

*The picture of Robert Emmet Burns with the Gene Autry Troup was taken in 1942. They did a square dance under blue lights with the arena darkened. The show was a history parade with the famous men of the old west. Robert Emmet Burns played the part of Kit Carson. The people in the photo are:

  • Back Row, L-R: Jean Young; Eddie Dean; Gene Autry; ?; Hank Worden
  • Front Row, L-R: Joan Burns, age 17; Red Dawkins; ?; George Huggins; Betty Goodan; Robert E. Burns

The picture of the house in National City, California, which was taken about 1910 included L-R: Jack Shook; John L. Burns; Alice May, with Beulah, who was Thelma's sister. This information came from handwritten notes on the pictures. I'm sorry to say that I don't know who Jack Shook, Beulah or Thelma were. If any of you are familiar with these names, please e-mail me and I will add the information to the page.
