1. John BAILEY was born about 1804/1813 in South Carolina. He died Bef 1880 ?.

The Bailey family came to Arkansas from Alabama in 1865. It is said that the family split up after they got to Arkansas and some settled at Cabot. The others traveled about 100 miles north from Cabot, and settled west of what is now Ravenden Springs, Arkansas.
John Bailey married Elizabeth a sister to Kinson Land and they settled near a large spring now known as Harper Spring located on Ferguson Creek.

John and Diannah Bailey are suspected to be brother and sister, but there is no documentary evidence to support this theory.

The 1860 Census of Fulton County, Arkansas list John's occupation as Blacksmith.

John married (1) (BAILEY).

They had the following children:

+ 2 M i Rev. William W. BAILEY was born on Jun 10 1834 and died on Sep 24 1909.
  3 M ii John BAILEY was born about 1835 in Georgia.

John also married (2) Elizabeth LAND 1, daughter of Lewis LAND and Elizabeth Martha (LAND). Elizabeth was born 2 about 1810 in Greenville, South Carolina. She died 3 in Jefferson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

  5 M iv John BAILEY is printed as #3.
+ 6 F v Sarah BAILEY was born about 1849.
  7 F vi Charity BAILEY was born about 1851 in Alabama.

  9 F viii Eliza BAILEY was born about 1859 in Arkansas.
