Bremerton Navy Yard connections for the ECKROAT family:
George Eckroat's barber shop was located outside the main gate of the Navy Yard for several years then moved to the Pacific Ave. building. During WWII George's daughter, Mary Valerie Eckroat, recalls hearing from the ferry dock President Roosevelt's voice (weekly radio broadcast) coming over the speaker in the Navy Yard (public address system).
Uncle Charlie Eckroat worked at the Navy Yard
David Wild served in the Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Hollandia and met Babs Eckroat while in Bremerton.

I'm sure we have other ECKROAT connections and memories related to this Navy Yard (DITTMAN, KNIGHT families).

Postcard
I searched the internet to try and find out the date of the postcard (color postcard above) that our family had. I found the above B&W photo similar to the postcard we have. I'm assuming our postcard is older as there is a grassy spot where there is a long building located in the bottom right hand of the Navy Yard. ~Tammy Wild
