Obituary: Mrs. William Edwards of Flat River, died at her home Monday evening at 9:10 o'clock (31 May 1931). She had been ailing for only a few days. Three days prior to her death she suffered a paralytic stroke, from which she did not rally. She was 76 years, 4 months and 25 days of age. the funeral was held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. the service was conducted by Rev. A. C. Johnson of the Flat River Methodist Church. Interment was in the K of P Cemertery at St Francois. Delphia Horton born in Robinson (should be Robertson) Co. Tn. on Jan 6, 1855, the daughter of the late John A. and Sallie Horton. She came to this state with her parents when a child and settled in Ste. Genevieve County. In June of 1869 she was united in marriage to William Edwards. to this union twelve children were born, five of whom preceded their mother in death. Four of them died in early childhood, the fifth, Mrs. Harry Hahn of Webb City, died July 1, 1912. She is survived by her husband, and the following named children: Mrs. Walter Bloom, Mrs. Clarence Cunningham, Mrs. Mary Robinson, Fillmore Montana and Leslie Edwards, all of Flat River, Mrs. Robert Miller of Fredericktown, and William Edwards Jr. of Pitcher, Okla. She also leaves 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters: Mrs. Frances Horton of Rte. 2, Farmington, Mrs. Ellen Fry of Weingarten, and Mrs. Victoria Watts of Flat River.
 

She professed faith in Christ at an early age. She lived an exemplary life. She was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother and a loyal friend. The News extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Obituary: William Edwards of Flat river, died in his home in Flat River (20 Jan 1848 -14 Jul 1931) Tuesday evening at 7:15 at the advanced age of 82 years, 7 months, and 20 days. He suffered a paralytic stroke two weeks ago, from which he did not rally. His wife died on May 31st of this year, following a three week illness of paralysis. The funeral was held at the family residence yesterday afternoon at 2:30, the service conducted by Rev. A. C. Johnson. of the Flat River Methodist Church. Interment was in the K. of P. Cemetery, by the side of his wife, at St Francois. During the illness these two elderly people were nursed by their daughter and son, Mrs. Mary Robinson and F. M. Edwards. They were members of the Flat River Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards was converted in early manhood and united with the Baptist Church at Turley Mill in Ste. Genevieve County. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for 41 years. The deceased was a pioneer in the lead mining industry in St Francois County. He worked for many years at Doe Run. He went to Flat River at the beginning of mining operations there abourt 40 years ago and assisted in the sinking of the first shaft. He continued in the employ of the Doe Run Lead Company until he was past 70 years of age. He was a faithful employ and well liked among the men with whom he worked. There are surviving besides the two children mentioned above the following named children: Mrs. Mattie Miller of Fredericktown, Mrs. Sarah Bloom, Mrs. Minnie Cunningham of Flat River, Leslie Edwards of Rivermines, William Edwards of Pitcher, Oklahoma. He also leaves 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Miriam Roux of Flat river, Mrs. Sissie Fry and Miss Julia Edwards of Esther, Mrs. Mary Thurman of St Louis, he also leaves two brothers, John Edwards of Esther and John Edwards of St Louis.

Elijah's Obituary: Elijah Fry, son of the late Henry and Lucetta Chandler Fry, was born in Ste. Genevieve County on Jan. 4, 1873, and passed away Saturday afternoon, November 26, 1932, at the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, age 59 years, 10 months, and 22 days. His death followed a gall bladder operation eight weeks ago at the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St Louis. He had been married 4 times, first to Miss Mandy J. Ramsey, of Rivermines, to which a son James Fry was born. Both widow and son survive him. the son lives at Riverside, Mo. Later he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Rolens of Elvins, to which union three children survive him, Alice, Henry, and Howard (see Elijah and Mary Rolens for deceased children at this time.) The widow and three children all of St. Louis, survive him. We were unable to obtain information concerning his third marriage. On April 2, 1927, he was united in marriage to Mmrs. Lucinda Perryman (her maiden name was Edwards, Perryman is the surname of her 2nd husband, the father of her children), of Esther, who survives him.
 

He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, of Texas, Mrs. J.F. Westwood of Bonne Terre, Mrs. Lucetta Boyd of University City and two brothers Manuel (this is Henry Emmanuel) of Desota and Elmer of Kansas. A number of years ago he united with the Church of Christ of which he was a member at the time of his death.
 

Funeral services were conducted at the home in Esther Monday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. Henry Mabry, of Bonne Terre, assisted by Rev. V.M. Estes pastor of the Baptist Church at Esther. Interment was in Parkview Cemetery, Farmington.
