Hi Ed-rec your message and although I am new to the list, thought I'd share with you my fry history, etc. Your data looks a lot like mine re the Pa-Va origins, and of interest to me is your comment about looking for a John Fry born in Va.ca 1778. I too am looking for the family of a Fry born in Va.c1778. My ancestor was Abraham Fry, who I believe was born in Va.around 1776-78.He migrated to Licking Co.,Ohio just before or around 1800 from Va.and died there in 1825.He had 2 sons and 2 daughters that I know of in Ohio. Both of the sons migrated to Ill.c1836-37 to Bureau Co. The 1880 census for Bureau Co.shows Abraham Fry's father as having been born in Va., but I have not yet been able to locate the father's family in Va.I believe he may have originally come to Va.from Pa. Have had contacts with some fry descendents over the years, but none have worked out to fit my time frame, etc.re what I'm looking for. Do
you know of anyon! e tracking an Abraham Fry Family that starts in Va.? My grandparents added an E to our name and changed it in 1891. It has caused me a lot of delay, mistakes, etc over the years, but no real problems that I know of ). Louis Frye

In response to Ed Fryes Website which is interesting and could become a good
source if all cooperate..
I don't know if I descend from the FRY family or not. Your information does
not go back far enough to find the William Fry I'm interested in.
WILLIAM FRY Will Written 26 Mar 1722 Will Proved 17 Jul 1723 St Stephens Parrish Northumberland VA. Abstract: To William KESTERSON the son of George KESTERSON all my land. To George KESTERSON Sr all my personal estate and he to be executor. Witness: William HUSH, William NORMAN and William PORTER
I believe that this William Fry had a daughter named Aquilla Fry who was born about 1680 probably in the Northumberland Co VA area..as that is where these events occurred. So I would judge William Fry to be be born in the mid 1600's... place ??? but we do know he died in 1723..Northumberland VA..
I'm a descendant of Aquilla and her husband George KESTERSON so I've yet to prove my FRY ancestory - and only if it can be proved that Aquilla was William Frys daughter. In his will he mentions her husband George and what ANY relationship to any of them.
So you can add William to your data base and we can see where it leads..

Ed,
I am the gggrandson of Elanor/Eleanor/Elinor Fry b abt 1829 to Solomon Fry and (?) maiden name Vernon. She married Nathan P. Howell and they resided in Huntington County, Indiana, the home county of several of the townships (Van Buren, Grant, Indiana) you referred to.
She died in 1905.
The skimpy data I have is that Solomon may have been born in Ky in 1803.
I'm very new at this and although I have visited Ind once, I neglected to do much research. I'm headed back there in May and hope I can pick your brains to try and trace more about Eleanor.
Thanks for your time Bill Howell San Diego
