Rodolphus P. Edgerton served
in the Union Army during the Civil War.
He enlisted from Westfield,
New York on August 30, 1862,
“aged 23”, and served as a private in the 154th New York Infantry Regiment,
Company E. He was promoted to Full
Corporal on February 15, 1865. The
154th Regiment was active in battles from 1863 to 1865 throughout Virginia, Tennessee,
George, and North and South
Carolina.
Rodolphus Edgerton was mustered out at Bladensburg, Maryland
on June 11, 1865. (see New York:

Rodolphus P. Edgerton
applied for a Civil War invalid pension on May 7, 1891. The application was filed from the state of
Pennsylvania
and cited Rodolphus’ service in the 154th New York Infantry (E Co.). J. L. Wells was listed as the representing
attorney. Rodolphus’ widow, “Mary E.
Edgerton” later applied for a widow’s pension on June 19, 1909. The latter application was also filed from Pennsylvania. (see National Archives Pension Applications;
