J. B. Parker, 47, of Rt. 2, Box 435, Huntsville, Ark., died May 9, 1990, at the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1942, at Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Albert Dalton and Lizzie Kay Stamps Parker.

He was Madison County foreman for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Post #10021, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Huntsville.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joyce Whorton Parker of the home; one son, Marty Joe Parker of the home; one daughter, Miss Anita Kay Parker of the home; two brothers, Rex. B. Parker of Williamstown, N.J., and James D. Parker of Huntsville.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Shackelford officiating. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ralph Cline, Gary Fancher, Fred Ficht, Sam Howell, Bill Harbison and William Styles. Honorary pallbearers were Herb Jordan, Arvel McConnell, Kenny Riley, Doyle Root, Sue King, Burl Walker, Randal Whorton, Howard Harper, and Butch Fancher.

Mrs. Lizzie K. Parker, 81, of Rt. 2, Huntsville, died Oct. 1, 1984 at her home. She was born June 12, 1904 at Kingston, the daughter of Bee and Gertrude Combs Stamps. She was a Presbyterian and the widow of Albert Dalton Parker, who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1968.

Survivors include three sons, James D. Parker and J. B. Parker, both of Huntsville and Rex B. Parker of Williamstown, N.J.; four brothers, Otto Stamps and Combs Stamps, both of Kingston, Jess Stamps of Chelan, Wash. and Eldred Stamps of Berryville; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Kingston Community Church with the Rev. Harold DuVall officiating. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Henry Bolinger, Larry Bolinger, Bobby Cook, William Styles, Quincy Sattler and Ralph Cline. Rosa Cline

William Ross Parker, age 52, of Kingston, member of a widely known Madison county family, died at the City Hospital, Fayetteville at 9 p.m. Jan. 15. A semi-invalid as the result of a bullet wound suffered several years ago, Parker had been ill for some time, and had been a patient in the hospital for 25 days preceding his death.

He was born near Kingston Nov. 15, 1895, the son of J. B. Parker and Tinnie Kinnaman-Parker, both natives of Madison County.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Madella Parker, Kingston; his mother, Mrs. Tinnie Parker, Kingston; three brothers, Dalton Parker, Kingston; J. A. Parker, Greeley, Colo.; J. S. Parker, Long Beach, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Mollie Bolinger, Loy; Mrs. Martha Sims Lawton, Okla.; Mrs. E. Sugg, Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Chloe Miller, Taft, Calif.; and Mrs. Pearl E. Basham, Huntsville.

Graveside funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kermit Van Zant, Methodist pastor of Huntsville, at 2 p.m. Jan. 17, 1948. Burial was in the Parker Cemetery under direction of the Brashears Funeral Home {mcr} Rosa Cline

Faye Marie Payton, 68, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1930 at Combs, the daughter of Alfred and Jewell Parker Hawkins. She was retired from the Bank of Elkins and a former employee of McIlroy Bank. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ray Hawkins.

Survivors include: her husband, Eugene 'Dean' Payton of the home; two sons, Jerry Payton and Tommy Payton, both of Fayetteville; three brothers, J.D. Hawkins of Michigan, Bill Hawkins of Goshen and Daryl Hawkins of Springdale; three sisters, Veneda Pope of Fayetteville, Lorena VanBrunt of Fayetteville and Jeannie Alexander of Texas; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Moore's Chapel with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Ledbetter Cemetery.

Opal Rose Peck, 84 homemaker, died Thursday, June 18, 1998.

Survivors include: daughters, Fern Bohanan of Peck, Christine Lucas of Mulvane, Nadine Davis of Derby, Gloria Schwind of Wichita; brother, Wayne Herriman of Johnson, Arkansas; sister, Oneida Rogers of Huntsville; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren.

Service was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Peck Church of Christ.

Buren 'Smiley' Pharris, 82 of 2100 Ann Street, Springdale, died June 27, 1998 at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born January 26, 1916 at Witter, the son of William and Ona McAdoo Pharris. He was a retired deliveryman, a Christian and a retired member of Teamster's Local #1422 at Fullerton, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Thelma Ethyleen Evans Pharris on October 8, 1995.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Brooks of Springdale and Robert Brooks of Corona, California; one sister, Mrs. Geneva Crabtree of Fullerton, California; four grandsons, Fred Brooks of Gentry, Arkansas, Dwight Brooks with the United States Armed Forces in Germany, Brad Brooks and Nolan Brooks both with the United States Armed Forces in California; three granddaughters, Mrs. Connie Flores of Springdale, Mrs. Candi England of Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Crystal Mendoza of Rogers; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Rev. Afton Pennington officiating. Interment will be in the Witter Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. {mcr}

Kenneth Cecil Phipps, 89, of Rogers died May 26, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Garfield to Thomas and Myrtle Tuck Phipps. He was a deacon and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He was retired after owning and operating a nursery and landscaping business. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Phipps of the home; one daughter Joan Luker of Rogers; two brothers, Clyde Phipps and Gene Phipps of California; two sisters, Zelda Boozer and Jessie Scott of California; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Open Door Baptist Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Al Mains officiating. Burial will be in Oakley Chapel Cemetery in Rogers.

Raymond Sidney 'Dock' Pitts, 93, of Goshen died May 4, 2001, at his home. Born January 7, 1908 in Goshen to Sidney L. and Laura Bell Pitts.

He was a farmer and enjoyed raising cattle, horses, and gardening. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. He and his wife of 76 years enjoyed gospel music and sang with several groups over the years.

He is preceded in death by one son Lester L. Pitts in September 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Johnson Pitts of the home whom he married May 3, 1925. Two sons; Dewey Pitts and wife, Sylvia; Don Pitts and wife, Patty all of Fayetteville. One brother; Clyde Tom Pitts of Brea, California. Seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Services were May 8, at the Goshen Church of the Nazarene, Dr. H.D. McCarty officiating. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Gideon Bible Find P.O. Box 4507 Fayetteville, Arkansas 72702-4507

Ira 'Junior' Pless, 65, of London died May 20, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born July 31, 1935, in London to Ira and Martha Boster Pless Sr.

He was a member of Martins Chapel Assembly of God Church, an Army veteran and a retired splicer/repairman with Southwestern Bell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbye Whorton Pless.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Wolfe Pless of the home; four sons, Richard S. Huhn of San Antonio, Texas, Rodney S. Pless of Springdale, Michael D. Pless of Rudy and Victor W. Wolfe of London; two daughters, Pamela G. Jones of Alma and Shirley L. Crume of London; his mother of London; two sisters, Faye White of London and Helen Bowden of Russellville; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Humphrey Funeral Home in Russellville, with the Rev. Arlin Elmore officiating. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery in Russellville.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. {mn}

Suzette Potts, 92, of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Searcy County, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. She was born June 14, 1908 in Searcy County, a daughter of Thomas H. and Fannie Dunn Clark. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ. She was married to C.M. Potts of Western Grove, July 3, 1930. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Clark of Abilene, Texas and Terry of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at Western Grove Cemetery. Visitation open at Holt Memorial Chapel in Harrison. {nct}

Bertha Gladys Powell, 90, of Springdale died December 15, 2000. She was born June 16, 1910 to Benner and Hannah Margaret Drake Davis. She was a member of Fishback Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mirl C. Powell, to whom she was married for 61 years.

Survivors include nine children: Junior Powell, Lois Satterfield, Doris Carter, Joyce Carr, Sue Ward, Jerry Powell, Merlene Robertson, all of Springdale, Jim Powell of Siloam Springs, and Barbara Hall of Summers; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, with the Rev. Homer Ross and the Rev. Glen Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Rick Satterfield, David Carter, James Carr, Lee Ward, Johnny Powell, Pete Robertson, Colby Hall, Eddie Powell and Shawn Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Carter, Bobby Hall and Paul Powell. {mn}

Blanche E. Powell, 66, of Springdale died November 3, 2000, in Springdale. She was born July 4, 1934, in Yuma, Ariz., to Dennis and Pearl Jessie Usrey McKelvey. She was retired from Daisy Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Fishback Baptist Church in Springdale.

Survivors include her husband, Junior Powell of the home, to whom she was married Aug. 18, 1964; one son, Dennis Sisemore of Farmington; one daughter, Kitty Renker of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Joe Lambert and Pat Lowry, both of Sayre, Okla., and Mickey Taylor of Porum, Okla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home with the Revs. Homer Ross and Howard Owens officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Roy Gene Powers, 45, of Springdale died May 27, 2001, at his home. He was born March 16, 1956, at Kennett, Mo., to Robert and Madge Stills Powers.

He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on Old Betsy, a 1926 model fire engine, at the Springdale Fire Department. He was a member of First Christian Church of Springdale and the PTAs of Lee Elementary School, Helen Tyson Middle School and Central Junior High School. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Powers of the home, to whom he was married Aug. 8, 1998; one son, Matthew Neagles Powers of the home; two daughters, Marissa Shea Neagles Powers and Lanie Powers, both of the home; his mother of Marshall; four brothers, Robert Powers of Springdale, Donny Powers of McKinney, Texas, Jamie Powers of Springdale and Billy Powers of Gainesville, Texas; three sisters, Patricia O'Dell of Azle, Texas, Barbara Zohn of Seattle, Wash., and Mary Sue Bean of Springdale.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Keith Marinus officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Bersi, Sam Bowman, Steve De Lancey, Ralph Gresham, Duane Hamm and Richard Niccum. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Penix, Dale Stickler and Mike Scribner. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thomas Judson Price Sr., 68, of Rogers died May 20, 2001, in Kingdom City, Mo. He was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Doniphan, Mo., to Velmar and Wilma Wylie Price. He was a truck driver for Willis Shaw Express for 15 years and a member of the National Rifle Association. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He moved to Rogers from St. Louis, Mo., 30 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Linda 'OB' Obrock Price of the home, whom he married April 1, 1989; one son, Thomas J. Price Jr. of High Ridge, Mo.; one daughter, Leevon Weaver of Fayetteville; his mother of Hazelwood, Mo.; one sister, Dolores Snyder of Florence, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Burns Funeral Home in Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Weaver, Thomas J. Price Jr. and Bud Obrock. {mn}

Ardus 'Art' Pruitt, 75, of Hiwasse, Arkansas died September 16, 1999, at Gravette Medical Center in Gravette. He was born February 27, 1924, in Newton County to Otis and Viola Ober Pruitt.

He was retired from Weyer-hauser of Springfield, Oregon, and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Carldean Pruitt of Hiwasse; two daughters, Beverly and Cheryl of Springfield, Oregon; two stepsons, Jimmy Stephens of Bella Vista and Dale Stephens of Gentry; two brothers, Wayne Pruitt of Hiwasse and Harold Pruitt of Wenatchee, Washington; 10 grandchildren; five great-grand-children.
