Rushie (Whelchel) Ramirez, 82, died May 13, 2001 in Fullerton, California. She was born August 4, 1918 at Aurora, Arkansas. She had lived in California for over fifty years and was a nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Ramirez; father, Cleburn Whelchel; mother, Fannie Whelchel; sister, Geneva Hull; brothers, Clarence and Avis Whelchel.

She is survived by one son, Earl Kisor of Rowland Heights, California; one daughter, Ann Hoornaert of West Fork, Arkansas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 17, 2001 at Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea, California. James Hersey, a nephew, officiated at the service. {mcr}

Axie May Ramsey, 91, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died Saturday April 24, 1999 at Meadowview Lodge in Huntsville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ramsey, a daughter, Jolena York, a grandson, Larry Lee and her parents, Henry and Mary Sams Young.

Survivors include: one sister, Arah Skaggs, of Jacksonville, Arkansas and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. April 26, 1999 at the Nail Baptist Church with burial in the Nail Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville. Pallbearers were Johnny Floyd Skaggs, Jr. James Eric Skaggs, Ed Young , Ted Young, Ed Murrell and Billy Lee. {mcr}

Patricia Reppeto, 67, of Salem (Marion Co.) died Tuesday. She was born in Lamar, Colorado, and moved to Salem in 1939. She married Jim in 1953 and they moved to Sedro-Woolley, Washington. Her husband died and she returned to Salem in 1969. She owned and operated two restaurants and later was a maintenance worker for the Dallas School District. She retired in 1995. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling. Two brothers preceded her in death. (Burt and Dale Harp)

Survivors include her husband, Ron Musselman, whom she married 22 years ago; sons, Wesley Reppeto of Independence, and Victor Reppeto and Patrick Perry, both of Salem; daughters, Virginia Kay of Dallas, ValJean Pratt and Vickie Larson, both of Salem; brothers, Gene Harp of Eugene, Ron Harp of Aurora, Colo., and Richard Harp of Salem; sisters, Norma Jacobs of Keizer, and Rena Dale and Shirley Montes, both of Salem; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Family visiting will be 3-5 p.m. today at Restlawn Funeral Home. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Restlawn Memory Gardens and 4 p.m. Saturday at Salem Evangelical Church. Julia Ava Reynolds, 88, died Monday, January 15, 2001 at Harrison.

She was born at Parthenon on April 23, 1912, a daughter of John Willis and Mary Breedlove Martin. She was a resident of Jasper, a homemaker, and a member of Jasper First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Searle A. Reynolds, one son Coy Reynolds, two sisters, three brothers and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Reynolds of Wichita, Kansas and Eddie Reynolds of Jasper, Arkansas, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday, January 17 at Jasper First Baptist Church with Rev. Mauel Macks officiating. Burial was in Jasper Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Trent Buckley, John Reynolds, Randy Jones, Kevin Reynolds, Aaron Jenks and Mike Junks. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Mahlon Maris, Buster Waters, Buddy Davis, Opal and Gilbert Jenks, Jerry and Nancy Brasel. {nct}

Rev. Vearl Eugene Reynolds, 72, of Ozone died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. He was a retired truck driver, minister for 42 years, member of Shiloh United Baptist Church, U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, son of the late Ernie Roscoe and Edith Hudson Reynolds, and was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Sparks, and one brother, Eddie Reynolds.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bertha Edgmon Reynolds; two daughters, Willma Vaughn of Clarksville and Marcia Stanley of Ozone; two sons, Rev. Dennis Reynolds of Mulberry and Tim Reynolds of Hagarville; two sisters, Virgie Eaton of Elkins and Betty Jean Edgmon of Mossville; one brother, Vernon Reynolds of Kingston; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Mossville United Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Reynolds and Rev. Jerry Wood officiating. Burial was in Mossville Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Darin Vaughn, Daryl Vaughn, Brian Vaughn, Barry Vaughn, Matthew Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Danny Hefley, and Travis Gregory. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Reynolds, Randall Edgmon, Kenny Wood, Pete Lager, Jerry Liggett, Terry Edgmon, and Richard Reynolds.

Zerl William Rich, 81, of Stilwell died July 22, 1999. He was born March 8, 1918, in Wayton to William Harvey and Annie I. Vanderpool Rich. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was owner and operator of a dairy bar in Stilwell ad was a farmer and a rancher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Edna Watson Rich, on July 28, 1998.

Survivors include one brother: Harvey Rich of Stiwell; two sisters, Priscilla James of Springdale and Clara Reynolds of Russellville.

Services were July 27 at Roberts-Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Stilwell. Randy Proctor officiated.

Burial was in Swain Cemetery. {mn}

Ben A. Rickey, 62, of Joplin, Mo. died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Holt Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at Holt Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in Plumlee Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.

The son of Mary Frances (Potts) Rickey and the late Floyd Rickey was born on Jan. 28, 1939 in Western Grove. He was a resident of Joplin since 1996. He worked for the U. S. Government.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Ina Vern (Clark) Rickey of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth Crawford of Eldridge, Iowa; his mother, Mary Frances Rickey King of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Rebecca Combs of Andover, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Victoria Crawford. {nct} Mary Ann Bagby

Verna Riddle, 75, of Combs, Arkansas, died February 25, 2001 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born February 21, 1926 at Saint Paul, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles and Rebecca McCarty Tuttle. She was a homemaker and had retired from Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Assemblies of God since 1950 and had attended the Saint Paul Bible Church for more than thirty-five years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary at Springdale. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John W. Tuttle and one sister, Mae Daily.

Survivors include: her husband, Ebb Riddle of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, J ohn W. Riddle of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charles F. and Janelle Riddle of Saint Paul, and David F. and Carrie Riddle of Huntsville, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Mesha and Comell Hall of Combs, Arkansas; one sister, Walcie Ahart of Saint Paul;three grandsons, Jason Hall of Farmington, Arkansas, Clinton Hall of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and one great-granddaughter, Mesha Hall of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Saint Paul Bible Church with Rev. Sam Judd and Bonnie Pace officiating. Interment will be in the Brashears Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Pallbearers will be: Clinton Hall, Jason Hall, Bob Spees, Robert Saunders, Donald Crawford, and Jody Keck. Honorary pallbearers will be: Russell Hoskins, Jeremiah Judd and Fred Lewis. {mcr}

Mary Lue Mitchell-Roberts, 70, of Rogers, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at her home. She was born November 16, 1930 in Whorton Creek, Madison County, Arkansas, to Sherman O. and Lueisa Reeves Bollinger.

She was a homemaker and was a native of Northwest Arkansas. She was a life-long member of Free Will Baptist Church, and a member of Women of the Moose. She moved to Rogers in 1961.

She is survived by her husband, Tom G. Roberts, of Roberts, Arkansas. A son, Rick Mitchell and wife Mechell, of Carrollton, Texas. A daughter, Alanna C. Mitchell of Rogers, Arkansas, one son, Lindsey R. Brown Sr. of Rogers, Arkansas, five grandchildren, Lindsey Ray Brown, Jr. of Rogers, Alanna Cheron Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lon Mitchell Brown of Oak Harbor, Washington, Kimberlin Nicole Mitchell, of Carrollton, Texas, and Jonathan Gregory Mitchell of Carrollton, Texas, and 11 great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her first husband, Richard S. Mitchell, Sr. four brothers, two sisters, and twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Mitchell.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel, Rogers. Reverend Loy Counts officiating. Interment was in Rogers Cemetery.

Mrs. Virgie Lee Robinson, 76, of Hutchinson, Kan., a former resident of Newton, Pope and Johnson Counties, died Saturday, March 5, 1983.

She was the widow of Sidney Robinson, daughter of the late John and Martha Martin Shatwell, and was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include three sons, Arnold L. and Charles Robinson of Hutchinson, and Andy Robinson of Hot Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Leona Smith of Hutchinson; her mother, Mrs. Martha Shatwell of Jasper; three brothers, Orville Shatwell of Jasper, and Elver and Talmadge Shatwell of Vendor; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Holt and Mrs. Willie Mae Davis of Dover; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hollman Cemetery near Lamar by the Rev. Jimmy Bohannon. Buriel will be by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers will be Finis Warren, Junior Warren, Tom Harmon, Ray Shatwell, Gerald Davis and Henry Roberson. Diana Boothe

Sidney Rodd age 87 of Jasper died Sunday, march 25, 2001.

Mr. Rodd was born May 18, 1918 the son of Sam and Ann (Dunn) Rodd at Edmonton,Alberta, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jun Rokutani, 86, of Bella Vista died May 30, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in San Jose, Calif., and moved to Bella Vista 21 years ago from Minnesota. She was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Rokutani of Bella Vista; one daughter, Laurie Rokutani Gresard of Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Craig E. Gavin officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.
