Family of Sam Lee

Am not sure which Lee family Sam came from, he was kin to a Lon
Lee whose daughter married Sid Thomas. I DO have your Lucy Thomas
line in my data...have her Thomas line back to late 1600's in Charles
County, Maryland. Thomas has been a very HARD line for me. Anyway,
her given name was Lucia Ann Thomas born November 12, 1862 on Thomas
Creek, Jefferson Township, Newton County, Arkansas. The daughter of
Andrew Jackson Thomas and Martha "Patsey" Spivey. Lucy Thomas married
Sam Lee November 27, 1879 in Newton County, Arkansas. They had eight
children:
Vanda "Van" or "Vandie" Lee who married a Nugget (have a picture of Van
and a small child who is standing on a stump), Emma,Newton "Newt", Jim,
Rufus, Ophelia, Iva, and Ida. I do not have dates or continued information
on their children, so if you can provide, I would appreciate the information.
Andrew Jackson Thomas was born January 30, 1827 Booneville, Clay County,
Kentucky to John Ira "Thed" Wilson and Mary Elizabeth "Betsey" Thomas.
John Ira Wilson left Betsey when the family was still in Kentucky, all of
her three children (all sons) went by the Thomas name rather than the Wilson
name. Andrew Jackson Thomas married Martha Spivey in Owsley County, Kentucky
October 1, 1851. She was daughter of James Spivey. A wife of James was Mary
Johnson, but it is probable that she was not mother of Martha. Martha was
born April 17, 1832 in Clay County, Kentucky. She died April 7, 1926.
Andrew died May 3, 1919. Both are buried Mossville Cemetery Newton County,
Arkansas...see my cemetery page. Andrew Jackson Thomas and "Patsey" had nine
children: Kimber Azo born June 17, 1852 Booneville, Owsley County, Kentucky
he died April 18, 1937 Yakima County, Washington. Sidney Thomas was born
August 1, 1854 in Henderson County, Indiana, died Thomas Creek, Newton County,
Arkansas April 3, 1937. Amanda Jane "Mandy" Elizabeth was born October 17,
1860 Thomas Creek, Newton County, Arkansas died January 14, 1929 Newton County,
Arkansas. Next was your Lucy. Joseph was born September 15, 1865 also on
Thomas Creek. He died February 24, 1919. Garrett Thomas was born August 9,
1869 died November 29, 1957. Armanda "Arrie Belle" was born April 25, 1873
died March 14, 1937. Jim was born September 3, 1874 died 1958. Mary Elizabeth
"Betty" was ninth child. I have a good picture of Andrew and Patsey, if you
would like, I can scan and send. Well that is a start :o)

Jefferson Callahan died ca 1918. Sarah Jane was daughter of Peter Peterson Barnard and
Tabitha Narcissus Self. Peter was born December 1, 1850 Marion County, Tennessee. He

Family of Thomas Spears

I have several Thomas Spears in my data...the use of Pleasant, especially for a middle name, was quite
common. The following family may or may not be who you are interested in, am sure there is a connection:
William S. Spears, born February 19, 1828 Bedford County, Tennessee married Mary Dickens March 17, 1847 in
the part of Carroll County that would later become Newton County, Arkansas. His middle name may have been
Segal. William S. Spears died May 14, 1916 at his home in Yardell, Newton County, is buried Sandhill
Cemetery, Newton County, Arkansas. As is his wife Mary Green Dickens, who was born June 6, 1830, died
July 12, 1902. I have twelve children born to them, the fourth being a Thomas P. Spears, born May 23, 1849
Newton County. Have his date of death as May 23, 1925 near Greenbiar, Faulkner County, Arkansas. The
next child born to William and Mary Spears was Samuel, whose middle name was Pleasant, also born in
Newton County, February 8, 1855.
I have a little more on the above family, if it sounds like the family that you are interested in.
