Notes for Catherine Angeline (Kate) DAYTON:
Granny Kate was a very hard worker. Rumer has it that grandpa Will bought her with some horses and other things he had. She was a full blooded Blackfoot Indian. Her father sold her baby brother to a river boat captain when he was only 4 years of age. She was an excellent quilter and made her own feather beds from the down of the geese she raised. I wish I could have known her before she got alheimers or as they called it in those days old timers decease. She could have told a lot of interesting stories of our family. Her in-laws always held it against her that she was Indian and treated her very bad sometimes. She once left Grandpa Will and went to Oklahoma with their chidren. After she was there for awhile Grandpa Will went and got her. Aunt Rhody was outside playing in the yard and Grandpa Will ask her if that was his daughter. She said NO it's not your daughter. Granny Rhoades had quite a temper. She once got mad at her Step mother over one of her quilts she made and tore her fingers apart. She was a little tiny woman but was stong as an ox.

Notes for Lois Belle 'Cricket' COWAN:

My Mom was the best mother anyone could ask for. She lived her whole life for her six children. She was always there when something was bothering you or when you were happy and excited . She was always the peacemaker for the family when there was a disagreement. If she did'nt like your opinion she would always change the subject . She would hardly ever say she loved you unless you told her first that you loved her, but you always knew that she loved you dearly. She worked hard all her life. We hardly ever saw her sitting or relaxing while we were growing up, She was always out milking the cows, working in the garden or cooking for everyone that came to visit. She was the best southern cook that you could ask for, if anyone came to visit she always made sure they did'nt leave hungry. She enjoyed having all her kids and grandkids around her all the time. She loved to dress up and go somewhere with you. I have a lot of wonderful memories of our get out of the house times. I am going to miss her wonderful smile and loving disposition. I don't think there are many people that met her that did'nt grow to love her dearly. I just hope that when I am gone that I leave as many beautiful memories for my love ones as she has. She was my friend, My confadaunt and my teacher. (Her Daughter, Brenda)
She had beautiful blue eyes and black hair. She was 5'3" tall and weighed 98 Lbs. when she got married. At the time of her death she weighed 106 Lbs and had beautiful white hair.
Official records show death date as April 2, 2000. She accually passed away April 1, 2000.
