No record of occupation until he went to Papua,New Guinea . He died without making a will and after the publication of a notice in the British New Guinea Government Gazette 17th December 1898 an order was made for the Acting Curator of Intestate Estates to administer his estate. In Papua he was also known as John Bolser . It is not known whether he died of a fever or as a result of an accident.
