major update of my Family
File,
including additional work on Edward B.'s possible
son William and various Cocke County lines related
to me maternally.
If your Walker family ever lived in Claiborne, Hancock,
or Union Counties in upper East Tennessee, chances are
that you are related to this family. There have been
a few unrelated Walkers in the area, but not many. In
fact, if any of your ancestors ever lived in the Mulberry
Gap/Little Sycamore/Hoop Creek area or Walker's
Ford/Lone Mountain/Bear Creek/Straight Creek area,
chances are that someone on your line married into this
family.
Edward
B. Walker is the progenitor of almost all Walkers
who have lived in Claiborne, Hancock, and Union Counties
in Tennessee since the founding of those counties, and
some of his descendants remain there. He was born in
North Carolina in 1756 and moved to Tennessee in the
late 1790s, settling on Mulberry Creek in the late 1810s
and leaving many descendants in that area and, of course
at this point, across the country.
This site has biographies and sketches of a few of
the family members as well as source documents such
as family Bibles, pensions, and other reference materials.
It is an adjunct to my Family
File,
which contains additional information about all known
descendants and many additional sources. Use the links
