Data compiled by Donna Frederick, Ely, Nevada to compliment our sister site, White Pine County Nevada History and Genealogy Research.
Last modified: December 7, 2006
Reference source: Ely Daily Times, November 10, 2006. Only White Pine County elected officials are listed in this latest update. If interested in the races at the state level, check results at Nevada Election Results. This site is designed for genealogy purposes with names of all those serving in the county from inception to date.
Please let me know if there are any additions or corrections that need to be made. Ely is the present county seat of White Pine County.
This web site is bare of everything but facts, being a sort of road map of the first hundred years of White Pine County, Nevada. Maps may be useful even if they are dull, for they can show us where people have gone and where they may go again.
White Pine County was created in 1869 from a portion of Lander County. Hamilton was chosen as the first county seat. Ely is the present county seat of White Pine County, having wrested that title from Hamilton in 1887.
Original election data was taken from copies of a rough draft provided by Miss Lee Mortensen, Librarian, (State of Nevada, Department of Museums, Library and Arts, Nevada Historical Society); some pages were copied crooked and data cut off. Where they cannot be read, it has been so noted i.e. (?) after a number indicates only a partial number could be read. On many, the data reported is incomplete. In some instances, a (?) is also used because the election returns were incomplete. Unless otherwise noted, the DATE is the year the election took place.
Please note this is a list of elected officials only. The data for positions that went from being elected to appointed (I.e. County Superintendent of Schools, Surveyor, etc) are not included in the charts. Many names were taken from handwritten entries and may be misspelled.
