Thompson Cemetery, Rockwall County, Texas

Location/Directions: The Thompson Cemetery is located in Rockwall County, Texas. From the Dallas metropolitan area, take Interstate 30 northeast. Immediately after crossing Lake Ray Hubbard, turn right on FM 740. Proceed south on FM 740 about one mile to Summer Lee and turn right. Proceed on Summer Lee to Lago Vista. The Thompson Cemetery is located on Lago Vista between Lot numbers 2932 and 2944.

At one time there were many grave markers, including some of the family Bois d'Arc. Due to grass fires and vandalism, only a few markers remain standing.

The Thompson Cemetery was reserved through a deed by C. James "Jim" Thompson on November 4, 1909, when he sold the land and moved to Quinton, Oklahoma. The cemetery is sometimes referred to as the Thompson Howard Cemetery.
