Letter Key

A= Ancestor
C= Cousin
F= Great
G= Grand
K= Child
R= Removed
S= Shared
N= Neice or Nephew
B/S= Brother or Sister
The first number in a box should be read in degrees. ex 1=1st, 2=2nd, and so forth.
The second number in a box should be read in tense or times. ex. 1= once, 2= twice, 3= 3 times, 4= 4 times, and so on.
The first thing you have to do is figure out who is your common or shared ancestor. That persons name would go in the box labeled "SA". Next you have to determine your relationship to that ancestor. You do this in the boxes that go from left to right.
Next you determine the relationship of your "cousin" to your shared ancestor.
You do this in the boxes that go top to bottom. Now draw a line from your box down to the row your "cousin's" box is in. Then draw a line from your "cousin's box until it meets the line you've drawn down. Where the two meet tells your relationship to each other.
