Worrall Independant Chapel, Towngate Road, Worrall
Worrall Independent Chapel is a solid, almost
square building said to have been constructed using locally quarried stone.
Several features are spotted almost immediately; entry is by a flight of stone
steps to the side door, the edifice has several tall windows, and something
of an oddity is the arch topped by two chimneys. A corner stone bears the
inscription - 'July 15, 1878 - John Wycliffe Wilson' Was this a foundation
stone, or one to mark the opening of the Chapel? Local folk do not know.
The cost of the church was said to be £800 and was built to seat 250.
