Crookes Valley Park
On the 1903 Old OS map it shows Crookes Valley Park as the
lower of three dams of Sheffield Water Works. The boating lake (as it is now)
was the Old Great Dam. The one above it which reached as far as Northumberland
Road was the New Dam. The top one above New Dam was called Godfrey Dam, which
was between Marlborough Road and Whitham Road. Behind the island trees is
the burnt out ruins of Dam House restaurant/cafe. (left) A closer view, (below)
