Attercliffe Road
Attercliffe is recorded in the Doomsday book as "Ateclive". There are disagreements about its meaning by language experts. One theory is that it comes from an Old Norse personal name and means "the cliff of Attir or Attir's Cliffe. However, a more widely accepted meaning is "the place at the cliff". The "cliff" being the rising ground on the east side of the river Don.

The postcard picture was taken from just below Worksop Road at the corner with Beverley Street and shows
