Blast Lane

From a coke fired blast furnace used for the smelting of iron and built in nearby Effingham Street by a man named Booth in 1786

(top left) Taken from the bottom of Bard Street at the corner with Broad St. Sheffield Parkway was built across Blast Lane so making it now just a few yards in length this side of the Parkway. Beyond the Parkway is Victoria Quays (Canal Basin)
(top right) The Lumley Street end of Blast Lane, looking towards the city centre and Victoria Quays and where the photo below was taken from.
(photo below) Taken from the Blast Lane to Broad Street pedestrian underpass (under the Parkway) at the rear of Victoria Quays. Looking towards the bridge where Lumley Street starts (top right). Blast Lane bears off to the left and under the bridge. The road in the right foreground leads on to Sheffield Parkway. The road straight ahead leads to Cutlers Gate and access to the city centre / Wicker / Attercliffe areas.
